Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got an early jump on the battle to engage President Trump on his emergency declaration, saying she is prepared to introduce a resolution in the House to overturn it.
She wrote on Twitter that she is joining with Rep. Joaquin Castro of Texas to introduce a resolution that would overturn Trump's designation, which includes $6.5 billion in funds that were not appropriated by Congress for use on a border wall.
The president acknowledged Friday that he will have a court fight on his hands, but another way he could be stopped is if the House and Senate pass a concurrent resolution – and have enough votes to overturn what would be a likely presidential veto.

“If President Trump declares a national emergency to fund his border wall, I’m prepared to introduce a resolution to terminate the President’s emergency declaration,” Castro said in a statement Thursday.
She also tweeted a link to a Bloomberg story about her effort.
The National Emergencies Act that Trump invoked gives Congress the authority to overturn the action by passing a joint resolution.

They pointed to a comment by Trump at his press conference that 'I didn't need to do this,' and that he acted to build the wall faster. The statement could reappear in court by critics who argue Trump is breaching his powers and limitations on the power of the purse laid out in the Constitution.
Trump was unable to persuade Congress to appropriate $5.6 billion he was demanding for border wall construction.
“I didn’t need to do this” is admitting this isn’t an emergency at all. “I didn’t need to do this” means he’s faking a crisis,' wrote Ocasio-Cortez, who has become the most talked-about member of the new Congress and amassed a Twitter following of more than 3 million.
The strategies of the legislative battle ultimately will be determined by party leaders who control floor strategy.
Pelosi and Schumer asserted in a joint statement that there is no 'crisis' on the U.S.-Mexico border, and threatened to defend the spending power of Congress with every tool at their command.
'The President’s unlawful declaration over a crisis that does not exist does great violence to our Constitution and makes America less safe, stealing from urgently needed defense funds for the security of our military and our nation,' they said.
'This is plainly a power grab by a disappointed President, who has gone outside the bounds of the law to try to get what he failed to achieve in the constitutional legislative process.'
Pelosi and Schumer said the moves 'clearly violate the Congress’s exclusive power of the purse, which our Founders enshrined in the Constitution. The Congress will defend our constitutional authorities in the Congress, in the Courts, and in the public, using every remedy available.'
Pelosi will determine what resolution goes forward and whose name attaches to it. The resolution will get automatic consideration in the Senate, where obtaining a veto-proof majority among Republicans who have been reluctant to confront the president will be the challenge.
Trump said in a Rose Garden press event that he would leverage about $6.5 billion in existing Defense Department and other funds, along with $1.4 billion Congress appropriated for his wall this week.
White House officials said earlier in the day on a conference call that the money would allow for the construction of at least 234 miles of steel bollard walls.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
