«Breaking News» Katy Perry steps out for the first time since sparking controversy for shoes evoking blackface

Katy Perry stepped out for the first time since her shoe line stirred controversy for selling a piece of footwear likened to blackface this Tuesday.

The Roar singer aimed for an incognito appearance while seen shopping at interior decor spot Table Art in West Hollywood.

Her outing came in the wake of Katy, 34, and her accessories brand Katy Perry Collections pulling two designs from the line after the 'face shoes' were called out for evoking blackface.

Perry was dressed down in two-tone leggings and a baseball tee for her outing. She added a long puffer jacket on the outside to protect from the unusually cold LA weather. Hiding behind dark glasses and wearing AirPods in each ear, it was clear that the star wanted to be left alone. 

Since the controversy emerged, Katy, 34, and Global Brands Group released a statement to DailyMail.com explaining that the two shoe styles were part of a larger collection and were never intended to 'inflict any pain.' 

'The Rue and The Ora were part of a collection that was released last summer in 9 different colorways (black, blue, gold, graphite, lead, nude, pink, red, silver) and envisioned as a nod to modern art and surrealism,' the statement said.

'I was saddened when it was brought to my attention that it was being compared to painful images reminiscent of blackface. Our intention was never to inflict any pain. We have immediately removed them from Katy Perry Collections.'

Stores: Both shoe styles retailed for $129 per pair on Katy Perry Collections, and at Dillard's (pictured) and Walmart before they were pulled 

On Monday, TMZ was the first to report the shoes were about to be removed from retailers as Katy faced scrutiny for the shoes, which bear a likeness to blackface makeup. 

Sources told the site the two shoe styles are part of an entire line that she had designed and released and 'were never intended to be offensive.'  

'In order to be respectful and sensitive the team is in the process of pulling the shoes,' the sources added.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
