The trouble with being a celebrity in this Instagram age is it’s no longer possible to make a living just by posing in your pants.

Now you have to pose in your pants in the manner most likely to make your post go viral — and accumulate followers.

The more page views, the more people will pay you to plug their stuff. This is what’s known — rather coyly — as being an ‘influencer’. What it actually means is you will do almost anything, however humiliating, because that’s where your next pay cheque is coming from.

Kim Kardashian, of course, pioneered this business model, and she and her clan have done very well out of it.

No surprise, then, to see Kim and sister Kourtney in Utah this winter spearheading the latest desperate look-at-me Insta-trend, the snowkini. That’s right: wearing a bikini — in the snow.

Here is Kim in a Raquel Welch-style fur bikini and matching fur boots. Here is Kourtney in a bit of dental floss and a size zero ski jacket. Ridiculous? You bet. But just you wait: soon it will seem as normal as glitterboobs. At least Kim and Kourtney had the sense to accessorise warmly.

Luciana Gimenez by contrast (she of Mick Jagger love child No 327) is pictured in the skimpiest of bikinis, clearly freezing her extremities off.

Ditto Bruce Willis’s daughters Rumer, Tallulah and Scout, pictured lolling around in some freezing river in Idaho. 

They look as you might expect: cold and miserable — and unintentionally comical. But the original — and still the most hilarious — is Mariah Carey. Poor thing never quite gets it right, does she?

Here she is, back in 2013, affecting her classic little girl pose, barefoot in a red two-piece with her pooch on a snow-covered pavement in Aspen.

Quite why she’s putting herself through such an ordeal is a mystery — after all, she does at least have a discernible talent, which is more than can be said for most of the others.

Still, ours is not to reason why — but simply marvel at the insanity of it all as we reach for the winter thermals.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
