«Breaking News» Rupert the Chihuahua who was dognapped from outside a hair salon is reunited with grateful owners

A Chihuahua who was dognapped from outside a hair salon has been reunited with his grateful owners - after a young girl handed him into police.

It comes after shock CCTV footage emerged last night showing the alleged dognapping incident taking place with owners offering a £1,000 reward for the pets safe return.

But now Rupert the dog - who is worth around £2,500 and was reportedly taken from the Northampton hair salon - has been runited with his owner Katie Lane, 30.

Northamptonshire Police were able to reunite Katie Lane, 30, with her lost Chihuahua after it was handed in to a station by 'a young Eastern European girl'. Ms Lane is pictured holding Rupert the dog

She said: 'Just a few hours after we put the story out on social media, Rupert was handed into police.

'Apparently a young Eastern European girl handed him into the police station.

'We can only guess what happened but we are just relieved to have him home. He is very thirsty and hungry but apart from that he is fine.

'It just shows the power of social media.'

Ms Lane, who said the pooch was taken from outside her partner Daniel Granger's hair salon on Abington Street last night - spoke earlier to MailOnline about the heartbreaking theft.

Describing why he may have been taken, she said: 'We believe the man who took him may be off to use him for breeding purposes, as Rupert has not been neutered.

'He is worth around £2,500 and so is very valuable to an illegal breeder. We do not know who the man is in the footage, but we're hoping someone may be able to recognise him.'

Ms Lane said she has owned the dog (pictured) since birth, after it was born to a couple of Chihuahuas her parents own

'They all love him and he's often seen sitting on their laps while they have their hair done.

'The support so far has been incredible. But if anyone has any information at all I would urge them to get in touch.

He crouches while approaching and even navigates around a woman with blonde hair in order to seemingly snatch the poor dog.

There are around four people watching on as the sorry incident unfolds - and the man wearing tracksuit bottoms and a coat carries Rupert away.

In a Facebook post submitted to the Daniel Granger Hairdressing Facebook page - Ms Lane and her partner write: 'Rupert is very tiny, one year old, fawn in colour with black markings along his back.

'He is very timid, and will be incredibly scared. If you recognise this man or anyone in the videos please contact us immediately.'

Northamptonshire Police and the RSPCA have been informed, and MailOnline has approached both for comment.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the owners on 07585952509 or 01604635480 - and there is a £1,000 reward on offer if Rupert is found.

Link hienalouca.com Interesting to note Looking for an investor or sponsor for a project to grow dinosaurs and relict plants. Requires the sum of investments from 400000$ to 900000$. The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
