Octavia Spencer says LeBron James 'had to intervene' with her pay on the upcoming Netflix show Madam C.J. Walker.

'I have to say, when I was negotiating my deal for Madam C.J., LeBron James had to intervene,' the Academy Award-winning actress, 46, said at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Saturday, Indiewire reported.

Spencer, who plays Sarah Breedlove on the show, added: 'We need all our male counterparts to be in the fight with us.'

King James: Octavia Spencer, 46, says LeBron James, 34, 'had to intervene' with her pay on the upcoming Netflix show Madam C.J. Walker. The actress spoke out at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Saturday

LeBron, 34, is in his first year of a four-year $154 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, and is dipping his feet in the showbiz waters as he settles into Southern California life.

He and Spencer are executive producers on the project, which comes from Warner Bros. TV, according to Variety. WME presented the project to LeBron's production company SpringHill Entertainment once Spencer was cast.

The collaboration between the Montgomery, Alabama native and the NBA superstar, 34, is based A'Lelia Bundles' book On Our Own Ground, telling the story of Madam C.J. Walker, who became the country's first self-made black millionaire with her haircare empire.

On the panel Saturday, Spencer said that her 'goal is to make sure that all women of color get equal pay, and all women get equal pay,' and that 'the only way to do it is to have these conversations, to talk numbers with your co-stars.'

She cited past support she received from Jessica Chastain, who stood up for her to get paid on a previous project they had worked on.

'Jessica and I stood together, and that was interesting that she would take that position - well, I mean, she is Jessica Chastain - but we also need advocates and allies in negotiating,' Spencer said.

Last year at the festival, Spencer opened up about how she and Chastain had strategized on how to narrow the gender pay gap in the entertainment industry.

'We were talking about pay equity with men and women, she was like, "It's time that women get paid as much as men." I'm like, "Yeah Jessica, it's time!"' Spencer said. 'We were dropping F-bombs and getting it all out there.

'And then I said, "But here's the thing, women of color on that spectrum, we make far less than white women. So, if we're gonna have that conversation about pay equity, we gotta bring the women of color to the table."'

Spencer said that after she told Chastain specific numbers, the outspoken actress 'was quiet and ... said she had no idea that that's what it was like for women of color.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
