The West Coast was ravaged by a weekend winter storm that brought with it widespread wind gusts, heavy rains and mountain snow.
Parts of California were battered by rain which lead to a mudslide in wildfire-damaged areas that stranded motorists on the Pacific Coast Highway on Saturday night.
The mud, which was up to four feet deep in some areas, led to a shut down of portions of the PCH in both directions as crews worked to clear trapped cars and the mud on Sunday.

Rapper Soulja Boy was among those who were driving on the highway during the mudslide. On Sunday, the 28-year-old retweeted a news report about the mudslide and wrote, 'My car got stuck too almost went into the ocean,' later tweeting that he was still waiting for his car to be freed from the mud.
The rain itself was said to have fallen at rates of almost eight-tenths of an inch in half an hour, leading to flash flooding in the Los Angeles metro area, ABC News reported.
The heavy rain continued on through Sunday morning, drenching Los Angeles, as well as Portland and Seattle.
The West Coast was also impacted by strong wind gusts, which reached speeds of 50 to 70mph and led to downed power lines and trees.
Several thousand power outages were reported from California up to Washington state.

The winter storm brought heavy snowfall to areas include the Cascades, Sierra Nevada Mountains and parts of the Rockies.
The snow produced major delays on Interstate 80, from Colfax, California, to the Nevada state line, before it was eventually closed on Sunday afternoon with no estimated time of reopening, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Caltrans reported that there was zero visibility on the roadway and that cars had spun out due to the snowfall.
Snowfall totals are expected to reach four feet in the area.
The winter storm responsible for the dramatic weather seen over the weekend is expected to head east.
At least two additional winter storms are also expected to hit the West Coast over the next few days.
The next storm is likely to be weaker, with additional rainfall of about half an inch per hour and as much as four to eight inches of snow in the mountains through the Sunday.
A third storm is expected to develop on Monday, impacting the Midwest - with possible snowfall of more than six inches in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan - and then hitting the Northeast on Tuesday.
This third storm is said to be quick-moving and predominantly impact the northern part of the country.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
