«Breaking News» 'Major incident' on the M6 as the road is closed in both directions and police pull over lorries

The M6 has been shut in both directions as police search HGVs due to a 'major incident' near Stoke-on-Trent.

Both northbound and southbound carriageways of the M6 between J15 and J16 are completely closed. 

A statement from the Central Motorway Police Group (CMPG) said there was an 'ongoing major incident on the M6 near Stoke-on-Trent.' 

A Highways England spokesman said: 'The M6 is closed in both directions between junction 15 and Junction 16 (Stoke-on-Trent) due to a Staffordshire Police led incident.' 

Lorries on the M6 are being searched after police closed both sections of the road over the 'major' incident 

A police helicopter has been sighted in the area while local people said nearby woodland and grass areas were being searched in the dark. 

One motorist said he is in the queue but has not seen any other emergency services, except police.

He wrote on Twitter: 'It doesn’t look like an accident - just cops - no ambulances or fire engines.'

He later added: 'HGVs being pulled over by the cops in droves. Rolling police roadblock! Looks like cops acting on some sort of intel.' 

Queues are forming along the motorway as two hour delays are being reported. Diversions have been set up around the A500

'Road users intending on using this section of road are advised to allow plenty of extra time for their journey and to consider alternative routes (if possible).'

Hundreds of football fans are currently heading to the Carabao Cup tie between Burton Albion and Manchester City. Many have been stuck at Keele Service station for more than an hour. 

Current diversions are being set up around the A500. Delays of more than two hours are being reported in the area.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
