«Breaking News» Killer who beheaded two women and set fire to their home sentenced to 60 years in prison

A Washington state man was handed a prison sentence of 60 years and 11 months in the bludgeoning murder of two women who he later beheaded and left inside their home he set on fire.

Matthew Leupold, 34, of Olympia, Washington, pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of arson in the deaths of Theresa Greenhalgh, 31, and Mary Buras, 22, in their Tacoma, Washington, home on January 4, 2017.

Greenhalgh, a mother of three, is survived by her sons ages 11, 4 and 2.

The lengthy prison term was 10 years more than what was recommended by prosecutors, the News Tribune reported. Superior Court Judge Jack Nevin said it was just the second time in seven years he has made such a determination.

'Justice requires this sentence,' the Judge Nevin said.

Court documents say Leupold told police that he heard voices telling him to kill Greenhalgh after he became 'possessed' during a reported binge of methamphetamine and heroin.

Theresa Greenhalgh (left), 31, mother of three, was beaten and beheaded while still alive before Leupold beat and decapitated Mary Buras (right), 22, to keep her from reporting him

He used his fists and a hammer to bludgeon Greenhalgh, then used a knife and a hatchet to decapitate her while she was still alive. He then beat Buras to death and beheaded her as well, afraid she could report him to the police.

Lindsey Leupold, 38, Matthew's sister and his 15-year-old nephew were in the house, but did not call for help. They left the house, but returned the next day to help clean up the scene, according to an earlier News Tribune report.

Matthew Leupold then enlisted the aid of his nephew two days after his attack to set fire to the home.

The nephew eventually pointed the police to backpacks with evidence of the crime including the head of one of the victims. The teen was convicted of first-degree arson and received a sentence of nearly two years.

Lindsey Leupold pleaded guilty last year for rendering criminal assistance and received 90 days in jail.

'What I did was wrong,' Matthew Leupold told the court before his own sentencing. 'They did not deserve to die. They didn't deserve it at all.'

The families of the victims did not believe their loved ones deserved such a fate either.

'She could push our buttons, but she also had the biggest heart,' Sherry Buras, mother of Mary Buras said. 'I don't know what I'm going to do without my little girl.'

'Theresa did not deserve such a tragic end to her life,' Warren Clements, Greenhalgh's stepfather said to the judge.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
