Kem Cetinay has opened up in the past about suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, after his mother fell drastically and suddenly ill when he was 11-years-old.
And in a new interview with mental health magazine Happiful, the Love Island 2017 winner has explained that he felt like the world was coming to an end when it happened.
Kem, Childline’s first mental health campaigner, explained how his mum’s close brush with death - which she ultimately ended up surviving - affected him mentally.

'I remember going to the hospital and dad told me I had to say goodbye, that it was going to be the last time I would see my mum. She was so ill and I couldn’t get my head around it, because she was fine the last time I’d seen her,' he told the publication, which is the only magazine devoted to a positive conversation around mental health.
Doctors gave his mother, Figen, just 24 hours to live at the time.
'I’ve never experienced anything that intense in my whole life. I felt like I was losing everything, because my mum is my best friend,' he went on.

'I would have talked about it a lot earlier, and started working on it sooner. Back then, I couldn’t put how I felt into words. Now the words feel so easy.

Figen pulled through, but the event had a significant impact on Kem, leading to PTSD and depression.
He went to a therapist when he was a teenager and he credits this experience with helping him to control his anxiety and panic attacks - although now and again, they rear their heads again.
The Dancing On Ice star has openly revealed, since being in the public eye, that he still encounters anxiety and depression but feels he is better at dealing with it now he is older.
He is also an advocate of avoiding alcohol, after realising it gives him sky-high anxiety, and is careful not to take on too much work at once.
His work with Childline this year sees him delivering speeches at schools across the UK. The ITV2 star is of the ethos that, had he experienced a talk when he was in school, he might have very well addressed his own issues sooner.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
