Liz Cheney came to her father's defense when actor Christian Bale thanked 'Satan' for the inspiration to play Dick Cheney in the movie, Vice, by bringing up domestic violence allegations against Bale.
The former Vice President's daughter tweeted shortly after Bale's Sunday night Globes speech: 'Satan probably inspired him to do this, too,' and quoted a 2008 headline from British news organization The Independent which read, 'Christian Bale arrested for "assault on mother and sister."'
The reference to the decade-old allegation from Liz came after Bale made the 'Satan' comment while accepting the Golden Globe award for Best Actor Sunday night.
'Thank you to Satan for giving me inspiration for playing this role,' he said of his Dick Cheney character in an apparent snub.
US Rep. Liz Cheney came to her father's defense when actor Christian Bale thanked 'Satan' for the inspiration to play Dick Cheney in the movie, Vice, by bringing up Bale's 2008 domestic violence charge
The political satire shows an unrecognizable Bale as Cheney, depicting the former second-in-command as the ruthless mastermind behind George W Bush's presidency, which has gotten the film large criticism by conservatives.
Bale, who has always denied the allegations from July of 2008, was cleared of charges due to 'insufficient evidence' in August of that year.
The domestic violence allegation brought up by Liz, who is the US Representative at-large for Wyoming, stems back to the days surrounding the UK premiere of The Dark Knight, in which Bale played Batman.
Bale was accused of lashing out at his mother, Jenny, and sister, Sharon, in front of Sharon's children in his suite at the Dorchester hotel, in Park Lane on July 21, 2008.
The following day, the mother and sister decided to go to a police station in Hampshire and make a complaint of assault.
Sharon told her friend: ‘I asked them to talk to Christian before he left as we felt his verbal and physical actions – especially in front of three children under the age of 12 – and no show of remorse afterwards needed to be pointed out to him as wrong.’
The mother and sister did not elaborate on exactly what the physical actions entailed.
Bale voluntarily reported to Belgravia police station in London the following day to give his version of events and was released without charge. Sharon and her mother withdrew their statements two days after the incident.

At the time, Bale asked for privacy on the 'deeply personal matter.' On August 14, 2008, a Crown Prosecution Service spokesperson said:
'We can today confirm that we have advised the Metropolitan Police Service that the actor Christian Bale should not face any charges following an incident which occurred in relation to his mother and sister at the Dorchester hotel on 21 July this year.'
DailyMail previously reported the that confrontation that night stemmed from his mother allegedly hanging up the phone on Bale's wife, Sibi.

In addition to the stab from Liz Cheney, Bale's Satanic comment got plenty of laughs from Hollywood's elite on Sunday night, as he continued to joke politics saying, 'What do you think, [playing] Mitch McConnell next?'
The line gained the appreciation of the Church of Satan, who wrote on Twitter: 'To us, Satan is a symbol of pride, liberty and individualism, and it serves as an external metaphorical projection of our highest personal potential. As Mr. Bale's own talent and skill won him the award, this is fitting. Hail Christian! Hail Satan!'
Bale brought the comedy during his speech, positing himself as a loose lipped geezer who couldn't be trusted on stage with a microphone.
The Church of Satan tweeted Bale's praise at his comment, writing 'Hail Christian! Hail Satan!'
He thanked his two children and wife, revealing that ahead of the show she told him 'less is more' during his speech.
'She knows the dumb crap that can come out of my mouth at times. I can sink and ruin a perfectly good movie and so-so career in one speech. So thank you for that advice, my love,' he said.
'(Vice director Adam McKay) said, ''I've got to find somebody who can be absolutely charisma free and reviled by everybody and so it's got to be Bale in it.''' he said.
Though he has made a career off iconic roles using an American accent, such as Batman, Bale is in fact Welsh-born.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
