A professional dancer-turned-advocate for amputee rights who lost a leg in the Boston Marathon bombings in 2013 is recovering in the hospital after being struck by a car.

Adrianne Haslet, 37, posted on her Instagram page on Sunday that she was hit while in a crosswalk on Commonwealth Avenue in Boston's Back Bay neighborhood on Saturday night.

Haslet shared a photo of herself in a hospital bed in a neck brace. She wrote she was 'thrown into the air and landed, crushing the left side of my body.'

She added: 'I'm completely broken. More surgery to come.'

The driver who struck the amputee stayed at the scene of the collision, which took place at 7.15pm, reported Boston.com. He told police he was turning and did not see Haslet because it was dark and rainy and she was wearing dark clothing.

The motorist was issued a citation for failing to stop for a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk.

After losing the lower part of her left leg in the finish line terrorist attacks as she was cheering on the runners, Haslet was fitted with a prosthetic, which enabled her to appear on the TV show Dancing With The Stars and maintain her active lifestyle.

After being fitted with a prosthetic, Haslet continued dancing, even appearing on Dancing With The Stars

Haslet ran the entire 26.2-mile race in the spring of 2016 in ten hours, and later that year she reached the summit of 18,996-foot Volcan Cayambe - Ecuador’s third-highest mountain.

Last year, Haslet ran in the Boston Marathon again but failed to finish because of inclement weather.

Over the past few days and weeks, Haslet has posted photo of herself in running gear, suggesting that that she had been training for the 2019 Boston Marathon.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
