«Breaking News» Shoppers brand Sainsbury's £18 ski-style stirrup jeans as 'hideous'

A pair of Sainsbury's ski-style stirrup jeans have been branded 'hideous' by shoppers.

Michelle Burns, from London, sparked the debate after posting a picture of the £18 jeans she spotted at a store in Chingford, Essex, on Facebook.

She commented: 'Sainsbury's (Chingford-ish) the 80s called, they'd like their hideous stirruped ski pants back please!!'

Others were quick to agree with her assessment, with one commenting: 'They died out for a reason....hideous (...and yes, l wore them)'.

The jeans are currently on sale on the Sainsbury's website, where they are described as 'retro-style denim ski pants.'

The website description continues: 'With an elasticated stirrup strap, added stretch and metal button & zip fastening, these would look fabulous with a tight knit jumper and a pair of boots or pumps.'

Stirrup pants were first worn by horse riders and skiiers to ensure their trousers stayed in place, before becoming a fashion trend during the 80s.

However, shoppers did not see best pleased by their return to the High Street.

One Facebook user commented: 'They always made my feet hurt. Or you could go super classy and put the stirrup under the heel of your scuffed white stilettos. #thehorror'

Another added: '50p bet says these are drastically reduced in the sale next month!!!'

Meanwhile, one person described Sainsbury's elasticated stirrup jeans as 'ugly' and 'frumpy'.

However, some admitted they were fans of the stirrup jeans, with one commenting: 'YES ski pants are back!!!'

Another added: Excellent!! For those of us who aren't dwarves stirrups were a godsend!!'

Despite the online debate over the Sainsbury's jeans, stirrup pants are currently available elsewhere on the High Street, after being worn by the likes of Bella Hadid.

Topshop and Whistles are among the retailers currently stocking the item.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
