«Breaking News» Worst dressed stars at the 2018 Emmy Awards including Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel is flying high as one of the industry's most buzzed-about actresses thanks to her sensational performance in The Handmaid's Tale.

But when it came to her choice of ensemble for this year's Emmy Awards - where the talented 37-year-old is nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series - Alexis didn't achieve quite the same stratospheric success.

The on-screen star, who made her name on beloved drama series The Gilmore Girls, looked slightly like she had been attacked by a hot glue gun-wielding arts-and-crafts lover before hitting the red carpet at the Microsoft Theater, thanks to the rather garish embellishments on her otherwise-lovely pink strapless gown.

Frock horror! The normally-stylish Alexis Bledel led the worst-dressed stars at this year's Emmys in a rather garish pink strapless gown with tacky butterfly-shaped embellishments

More is not more: Tracee Ellis Ross's dress looked as though it needed a good steam - and the mounds of crinkled pink fabric almost totally obscured her from view, forcing her to actually clutch at part of it in an apparent attempt to control her dress

The center of the bottom half of Alexis' pale pink number was covered with a very bright neon yellow mesh material, while the top portion of the frock had been adorned with what looked like plastic butterflies you might buy from Michaels.

But Alexis was certainly not the only star to suffer a fashion fail at this year's ceremony.

Joining her on the worst dressed list was E! News anchor Zuri Hall, who wore an over-the-top iridescent beige gown that featured seemingly-endless folds of fabric that flashed a rather unflattering green-tinged shade when captured in the wrong light.

The strapless number also left little to the imagination, and at times it appeared as though the glamorous TV host, 30, might pour right out of the top of the gown.

Another strapless style fail was Tracee Ellis Ross' puffy pink gown, which seemed to completely overwhelm her at various points throughout the evening, particularly on the red carpet, where she was seen pulling up the voluminous ruffles around the neckline in order to actually show her waist.

And the strapless disasters didn't stop there.

Fabric fail: While the silhouettes of the ensembles worn by Emilia Clarke (left) and Mary Steenburgen (right) were incredibly chic and flattering, the dreary, patterned fabric completely ruined the overall looks

Shoe shock: Actress Tina Lifford's dress was a whole handful in and of itself thanks to the over-the-top fabric, and the addition of the thigh-high boots simply served to make it all the more outrageous

More high school than high end: The enormous floral embellishment on Yara Shahidi's Gucci gown made it look like a bargain basement prom dress rather than a piece of couture

Sickly sweet: Leslie Jones' suit was the perfect shape and cut for her - but the sugary cotton candy coloring gave the whole thing a very tacky look

Next up, comedian Michelle Wolf's purple sequined gown, which was eerily reminiscent of a particular Disney villain, thanks in large part to the horn-shaped detailing around the strapless neckline.

As far as the silhouette, the dress was actually rather flattering, but unfortunately the overall design and coloring was more fitting for Halloween than for a fashion-forward red carpet.

Both Emilia Clarke and Mary Steenburgen also fell foul to bad fabric; Emilia's form-fitting dress actually flattered her figure perfectly, but the dreary floral embroidery around the skirt, and the mix of a black lace bodice and full opaque skirt made it look like a bit of a mismatched mess.

Mary's ensemble was much the same story.

While the silhouette of her pantsuit was both powerful and flattering, the garish mix of patterns on the fabric left the eyes almost totally overwhelmed, and completely distracted from the finer points of its tailoring.

Ready for Halloween? TV host Louise Roe looked as though she had made her dress out of the same fabric used to make old fashioned prison uniforms

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
