«Breaking News» Strictly Come Dancing: Faye Tozer admits performing live on TV 'fills her with dread'

She was one-fifth of Steps, the pop group that took the nation by storm in the late Nineties. 

But Faye Tozer has admitted her musical background is doing little to quell her nerves as she prepares to take to the stage for Strictly Come Dancing. 

Speaking to the Radio Times, the 42-year-old confessed: 'What fills me with dread is the idea of going on TV and dancing live in front of so many people.'

She added: 'But I was born for this. More sequins, more spray tan, more feathers. I’m ready - throw it at me.

'I’ve been wanting to do Strictly for years! I’m a huge fan. I had preconceived ideas about what it was going to be like, but it’s everything and more.'

The singer, who has a son, Benjamin, with her husband Michael Smith, went on: 'And I’m excited for my little boy to see his mum twirling around on telly.'

The blonde beauty has been paired with series hunk Giovanni Pernice, and had nothing but praise for the Italian professional.

'Giovanni is passionate and driven and I am, too, so that draws us together,' she gushed. 

Her fellow contestant, Casualty actor Charles Venn, 45, was equally excited to throw himself into rehearsals.     

'This is my first time being asked to do the show, and I jumped at it. I’m hoping to master a few dance skills, and hopefully get as far as I can,' he told the Radio Times.

'I’ve seen Karen [Clifton] do her thing on the dancefloor and know she’s going to whip me into shape. I’ve already started dropping weight and seeing muscle definition I haven’t seen in years.'

Meanwhile, the series has already been hit by controversy, with sources claiming contestant Ashley Roberts enjoyed several 'cosy dates' with the son of Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas.

The former Pussycat Dolls star, 37, is reported to have 'hooked up' with the Dancing With The Stars professional dancer Mark, 32, when they were both living in the US.

Mark is now happily married to singer, BC Jean, real name Brittany Jean Carlson, the loved-up couple have been together since 2012 and tied the knot in 2016 during a romantic ceremony in Malibu, California.

A source told The Sun: 'Mark and Ashley enjoyed a number of cosy dates but decided they would be better off as friends.

'You have to wonder, given their background, whether it will make things awkward for Shirley to judge Ashley.'

The couple were believed to have started dating in 2008, when they were spotted together at Hollywood sushi restaurant Katsuya.

While it was reported that the two had a 'fling' when Ashley's Pussycat Dolls bandmate, Nicole Scherzinger, competed on Dancing With The Stars in 2010.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
