It’s the end of an era for at least some handheld video game console fans.
PlayStation has just announced that it will cease production of its handheld PlayStation Vita console in Japan in 2019.
The announcement was made at the 2018 Tokyo Game Show on September 20.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Vice President Hiroyuki Oda confirmed that production will soon cease and revealed that the company currently had no plans for a successor to it.
‘Currently, we do not have any plans regarding a new handheld device. In Japan, we will manufacture PlayStation Vita until 2019. From there, shipping will end,’ Oda said.
The news comes just months after it was made public that Sony would reportedly end production of physical Vita cartridges by the end of its 2018 fiscal year, which runs until March 31, 2019.
However, digital distribution for games on the handheld console would continue after that date.
The PlayStation One Classic is almost half the size of Sony's original 1994 console
The new announcement from Sony also comes just one day after it revealed the PlayStation One Classic, an updated version of its iconic original PlayStation console released in 1994.
The new console is slated to be 50 percent smaller than its predecessor and comes pre-loaded with 20 games, including Tekken 3 and Final Fantasy VII.
The PlayStation One Classic will launch on December 3, 2018 – exactly 24 years after the release of the original version. Pre-orders are currently available for the updated version of the console, which will reportedly cost $100 in the U.S. and £90 in the UK.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
