«Breaking News» Jefferson Airplane's Marty Balin dies at the age of 76

Marty Balin passed away at the age of 76 on Thursday.


Balin, who is survived by his wife and children, was the guitarist and lead vocalist of Jefferson Airplane - the iconic rock band founded in 1965.  


'We have lost a true legend,' the remaining band members wrote of the White Rabbit artist on Instagram.

'Marty Balin helped start a revolution that still lives on today. He will be greatly missed. Our hearts go out to his family, friends, and music fans everywhere.' 


Marty was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame back in 1996. 

The band later received the Recording Academy's lifetime achievement award in 2016. 


Jefferson Airplane was best known for their hit singles Wooden Ships and Somebody To Love.

Balin was unable to attend the Grammy's with his bandmates in 2016 due to open-heart surgery.


The songwriter later sued New York’s Mount Sinai Beth Israel Hospital for medical malpractice. 


Marty's cause of death has yet to be released.

Balin, according to Variety, died with his wife, Susan Joy Balin, by his side. 


'Marty and I shared the deepest of love — he often called it Nirvana — and it was,' Susan said in a statement. 'But really, we were all touched by his love. His presence will be within my entire being forever.'   


Marty was formerly married to Karen Deal from 1989 until her passing 2010. 


The couple shared two daughters—Jennifer and Delaney Balin.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
