We all know prolonged and intense stress is not good for our health, but a skincare expert has revealed how it could be taking a huge toll on your face too.
Dr Howard Murad of cult skincare brand Murad has defined the phenomenon of 'cultural stress', which is a byword for the unnecessary pressure we put on ourselves while trying to live up to society's expectations.
According to Balance magazine, this creates a 'constant flood of damaging stress hormones, like cortisol, which fatigue our bodies and could show in our skin as dehydration, sallowness, roughness and deep expression lines.'
The resulting impact on the skin can make you look three-and-a-half years older than you really are.

In his book on the subject, the associate associate clinical professor of medicine at UCLA who is one of the world's leading skin and healthcare authorities with more than 50 years experience, described cultural stress as 'the sneakiest silent killer of all'.
'It has nothing to do with the everyday stress that acts as a background noise in your life or even the acute stress you experience when you're trying to meet a deadline or avoid an accident.
Cultural stress is much more insidious. It's what you experience when you're merging onto a congested highway with thoughts of being late again and not having time to check your email before 9 o'clock or respond to the twenty messages marked high priority from yesterday.
And despite your hyperconnections to others through modern technology, a part of you feels lonely and isolated.
Many of us feel overhwlemed by the demands of work, family and being constantly connected through technology, but Dr Murad argues that much of this 'cultural stress' is self-inflicted (stock image)
Cultural stress is not the survival response that is caused by actual danger. Cultural stress is wearing and tearing us down daily in ways we never thought possible.'
But in addition to slathering on the anti-wrinkle cream and hydrating serums, how can we create a buffer against cultural stress?
Murad suggests asking yourself seven questions to see if you can identify flashpoints in the day where it's possible to reduce cultural stress
Dr Howard Murad, pictured attending a Teen Vogue event in New York in October 2011, has identified the phenomenon of 'cultural stress'
1. Digital detox
Can you establish a set amount of time each day to unplug from your digital devices?
2. Better bedtime
Can you create a bedtime routine that prepares you for sleep thirty minutes prior to lights out?
3. Time for self-care
Can you make it a goal to treat yourself once a month (or as often as feasible) to a massage or another therapeutic treatment of your choice?
4. Forward planning
Can you plan your days better so you’re not as harried?
5. Time out when things get tough
Can you take a recess for some deep breathing or meditations when problems present themselves and your mind starts to race?
Focusing on our problems can cause them to easily swell into unmanageable portion sizes for our consciousness and bring us down. They then get out of control and look worse than they really are.
6. Get outdoors
Can you get outside more to enjoy the calming effects that only nature can provide?
7. Breaking patterns
Can you pick just a single habit you want to change and commit to making that happen?

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
