«Breaking News» Harry Maguire pens new five-year deal to keep him at Leicester until 2023

Harry Maguire has committed his long-term future to Leicester by signing a new five-year contract to keep him at the club until 2023.

It is understood the England international has received a substantial pay increase with his earnings now thought to be around £80,000 a week.

Maguire's new deal will come as a sucker punch to Jose Mourinho, who had retained hopes of signing the 25-year-old to help solve his defensive crisis at Manchester United.

Mourinho identified Maguire as a key target in the summer off the back of his impressive World Cup, but a deal never materialised with Leicester holding firm on their £75million valuation of the player.

Maguire accepted the decision and was happy to stay at the club and they have now repaid his loyalty and fine form at the heart of their defence last season with a bumper new deal.

After signing his new contract, Maguire told LFCTV: 'Ever since I came to this club, I've always reiterated how good they've been to me.

'They gave me an opportunity to play in the Premier League and built a great platform for me to go and perform at the World Cup, so I thank them a lot. I owe them a lot and I'm looking forward to the future.'

Maguire only joined the Foxes from Hull a little over a year ago but has since established himself as one of the best centre backs in the Premier League and a regular England international.

The defender played the full 90 minutes on Saturday evening as Gareth Southgate's men lost their UEFA Nations League opener 2-1 against Spain at Wembley.

He becomes the latest player to extend their stay at Leicester with the club also recently wrapping up new long-term deals with star players Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi and Kasper Schmeichel, who had also been linked with a move away back in the summer.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
