«Breaking News» Gloucester 35-13 Bristol: Charlie Sharples scores two as hosts go top

Charlie Sharples was only carried off the Rec with a sickening head-knock last Saturday against Bath, but scored twice here to send Gloucester top of the Premiership.

Bristol led after a manic first half, but the turning point was 38-year-old Australian legend George Smith receiving his second card in two weeks, this time yellow. He cost the Bears this one.

Smith was sin-binned 50 minutes in, after Gerbrant Grobler had gone over just after the resumption, and while he was off Gloucester scored twice through Sharples.

When Ed Slater bundled over with 16 minutes left the Cherry & Whites had the bonus point - Billy Twelvetrees added a penalty and Matt Banahan's late score gave them 32 unanswered points and the win.

Bristol came to entertain and led at half-time thanks to a wonderful try. Irish fly-half Ian Madigan kicked through to All Black Steven Luatua on the right, he offloaded to Luke Morahan who sped in.

Madigan kicked a penalty as well as the conversion, but Gloucester should have been ahead at the break.

They turned down three shots at goal and failed to score - the Bears' epic rear-guard, and TMO Sean Davey denying a try from Jake Polledri, shutting the hosts out.

That must have angered them as straight after the interval Gloucester scored. Debutant South African Grobler bashed over, and Twelvetrees converted to add to his earlier penalty.

Then the game-changer. Smith saw yellow for a cynical in-at-the-side penalty on his line - straight after Sharples was fed to score by Cipriani for his third assist in three games.

Five minutes later he was over on the blind-side for his second. Bristol were on the rack; down to 14 and behind by nine.

Slater then took his try, Twelvetrees a penalty - when Smith had conceded his sixth of the night - and with Banahan over at the death that was that.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
