«Breaking News» Girl, 18, fights for life after city centre car crash as police arrest both drivers

A teenage girl is fighting for her life after a Mercedes E320 smashed into a Renault Clio in Derby city centre.

The 18-year-old, who was passenger in the Clio, was airlifted to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries after the crash at 1.10 this morning.  

Two drivers have been arrested in connection with the horror smash. 

The crash took place at the  junction of Friar Gate, Stafford Street, Ford Street and Ashbourne Road

Part of the city centre remains cordoned off as police investigate. 

A Derbyshire Police spokesman said: 'At 1.10am this morning we were called to reports of a serious collision at the junction of Friar Gate and Stafford Street in Derby.  

'The incident involved a Blue Renault Clio and a silver Mercedes E320.

'An 18-year-old woman, who was the passenger in the Renault Clio, sustained serious, life threatening injuries and was taken to the QMC by air ambulance for treatment.

'The drivers of both vehicles have been arrested and are currently receiving treatment at hospital for injuries sustained in the collision.

'Enquiries are ongoing and specialist collision investigation officers are at the scene. At this time the crossroads of Friar Gate, Stafford Street and Ford Street is closed and is likely to be for some time today.  

'Local diversions are in place and drivers are asked, if possible, to avoid the area and travel via alternative routes. We thank the public for their patience as our investigations continue.'

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
