«Breaking News» France boss Didier Deschamps has stadium named in his honour

The legend of France manager Didier Deschamps grew substantially on Wednesday after a second stadium was named in his honour.

Deschamps has already got a stadium named after him, located in his hometown of Bayonne, but has added to his collection with the renaming of the Stade Marquet in Monaco.

Located mere inches away from the imposing Stade Louis II, the football ground's new name was unveiled in the presence of the France manager and Prince Albert II of Monaco.

Deschamps, who has lived in Cap d'Ail region of Monaco since 2001, unveiled the ground's new 'Stade Didier Deschamps' signage in front of a crowd of 500 people and was joined by his wife Claude.

There was also a surprise visit from his son, Dylan, who presented his father with the World Cup trophy he brought back from Russia with Les Bleus earlier this summer. It was the second time in their history, after 1998, that they had won the trophy.

'For me and my family, it is a huge honour to have the name of my family associated with this stage,' said Deschamps.

'The most important thing is the little ones, the young footballers. Seeing smiles, tears, joy, happiness, there's nothing more beautiful.'

Deschamps was part of the squad that lifted the World Cup for France in 1998 and his managerial triumph in Russia saw him join Mario Zagallo (Brazil) and Franz Beckenbauer (Germany) as the only three to have won it as a player and a coach.

The 49-year-old has been in charge of France since 2012, but his success has seen him linked with a number of Europe's biggest clubs. He has previously stated his intention to see out his current contract, which expires at the end of Euro 2020.

Speaking in July, he said: 'I don’t do everything like Aime Jacquet (the France boss who famously retired after the 1998 win). I am in a state of continuity and I have a contract to honour.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
