«Breaking News» Dog is elected mayor of Californian town – and has been given his own personalised pickup truck

A golden retriever has become man's best friend for town when he elected to be its mayor. 

Maximus Mighty Dog Mueller II, but more commonly known as Mayor Max, is the elected mayor of the picturesque mountainside town of Idyllwild, California.

The dog's duties include cruising around in a personalised pickup truck, making public appearances, ribbon cuttings and doing commands for treats. 

As Idyllwild is a non-incorporated town, it had no human mayor, so the Animal Rescue Friends (RAF) decided to sponsor its first ever election.

The town held their first animal election in 2012, where 14 cats and 2 dogs ran for the place of mayor.  

Mayor Max senior, who has since passed away, won two thirds of the vote and became the town's first ever mayor.  

 Phyllis Mueller, Mayor Max's Chief of Staff told ABC: 'Six years ago, Idyllwild decided to elect its first mayor.  

'You had to be a local resident, but you couldn't run yourself, you could run your pet.'

Mayor Max has also been joined by Deputy Mayor Mikey, and Deputy Mayor Mitzi

New mayor Max has also been joined by Deputy Mayor Mikey, and Deputy Mayor Mitzi, who are all related.

The dynamic trio, who are much loved by the town, are referred to as 'the Mayors of Idyllwild.' 

Recent important duties included supporting the towns local businesses after wildfires damaged property. 

Mr Mueller said: ‘His role is to make the world a better place by conveying unconditional love and doing as many good deeds for others

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
