«Breaking News» Disturbing photos will leave you wondering whether we are in a dystopian society

In today's fast-paced world, we're all guilty of being oblivious to our surroundings, but these snaps will make you stop and think.  

A subreddit called A Boring Dystopia is devoted to an idea put forward by the late British academic and cultural theorist Mark Fisher, that suggests we are already being coerced and persuaded of certain views by adverts and propaganda.

Now Bored Panda has collated some of its most unsettling photos taken in locations around the world.

From hospital patients having to withdraw money from a cash point before getting treatment to Pepsi sponsoring diabetes research, they will certainly make you think. 

Then there's a guarded selfie spot in LA that you can only use if you have 20,000 social media followers, here are some of the most shocking examples.

This photo, believed to have been taken in Croatia and shared by Bored Panda, is a disturbing one. It shows an unnamed, injured man on a stretcher withdrawing money from a cash machine while surrounded by paramedics. It seems to suggest that he can't actually get the treatment he needs until he has the money for it

This photo, which was shared by Bored Panda, shows how confusing and ironic society can be. According to the photo, this branch of KFC, somewhere in the US, is telling customers it will donate $1 to a juvenile diabetes research foundation - provided they buy a mega jug of Pepsi

This advert, for Timberland boots in Hong Kong and shared by Bored Panda, darkly states that 'you're never going to be able to retire', suggesting that you will be struggling for your whole life - before also asking that you buy their, probably expensive, new boots

Justin Caffier shared this photo, which was included in Bored Panda's gallery. It shows a mural in LA that is only open to 'verified influencers' with more than 20,000 followers. In Melrose Avenue in West Hollywood, the artwork is flanked by security guards

Writer Tom Gara tweeted this, which was included in the Bored Panda gallery. His friend's toddler had watched so much YouTube, he thought 'don't forget to subscribe' meant 'goodbye'

This picture was taken in Toronto in 2017 and was shared by Bored Panda. A man spent his own money on building some stairs so elderly people could climb up this steep path. However, he fell foul of officials who tore them down

The Hilton hotel in the San Francisco Financial District has a curious policy when it comes to the books in its lobby, according to this photo shared on Bored Panda. Rather than letting anybody read the many books it has, the signs warns that they are there for decoration only

A man known as Crab King on Twitter shared this photo of his brother. The image, included in the Bored Panda gallery, shows how a boy called Jonathon, wanted to surprise friends with a new haircut but received a visit from concerned police officers after posting to Snapchat

This Walmart, in the US, promises its employees they have a 'lot of freedom' when it comes to dressing for work, according to this image shared by Bored Panda. However, their definition of freedom doesn't seem to work as all the colours appear to be broadly the same

It is unclear where in the US this McDonald's is but it is sure to leave you shaking your head. Admitting that the 2017 solar eclipse was a 'once in a lifetime' spectacle, the note says that employees will only be given three minutes to enjoy it

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
