«Breaking News» Dele Alli withdraws from England squad due to minor muscle strain

Dele Alli has withdrawn from England's squad for the friendly against Switzerland on Tuesday with a 'minor muscle strain' but Gareth Southgate insists he should be fit to play for Tottenham at the weekend.

The midfielder, who picked up the problem in Saturday's 2-1 Nations League defeat to Spain, will be treated by his club rather than joining the Three Lions at Leicester's King Power Stadium.

Manager Southgate had already bolstered his squad with Foxes pair Ben Chilwell and Demarai Gray.

The youngsters could both make their debuts at their home ground and Southgate has decided not to call up a replacement for Alli.

Southgate believes Alli will be fit for Tottenham's Premier League game with Liverpool at the weekend.

He said at his press conference: 'He has just had a minor strain and should be fine for his club at the weekend I would think, but tomorrow's game will come too quickly.'

The manager added: 'I thought his performance was good, in terms of his retention of the ball I thought he was improved in that area, his work without the ball has been good over the last six months with us.

'He makes critical forward runs, like everybody else we learned a lot from the game.'

The 22-year-old played the full 90 minutes during the defeat to Spain, who were led by Luis Enrique for the first time.

Goals from Saul Niguez and Rodrigo turned the game on its head after England went ahead early on through Marcus Rashford.

Southgate will be desperate to maintain the World Cup feel-good factor and return to winning ways on Tuesday following three losses on the trot.

England have suffered at the hands of Spain, Belgium and Croatia - with the latter two coming at the World Cup this summer.

The midfielder, who picked up the problem in Saturday’s 2-1 ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
