Shannon Lush is the cleaning guru Australians turn to for advice on creating a spotless home.
And now the expert has revealed how to cut laundry time and save money too.
Speaking to Newscorp, Shannon said while it's a commonly held belief that using extra soap helps to wash things properly, it doesn't necessarily mean cleaner clothing.
She explained because soap is a fat-based product, too much can leave a residue which in turn can make clothing dirtier.
'You know what it's like when you put a cake of soap on the window sill? It gets dirty really quickly and that's because it contains fat,' Shannon told the publication.

The cleaning guru also said extra soap was also a likely cause for towels becoming 'prickly and nasty' within a day of being washed.
She said excess soap, which binds to fabric, heats up when it's dried, which is why towels come out of the dryer soft and fluffy.
'When you put your towel in the dryer you are melting the fat so the towels come out all nice and fluffy but a day later they are all dry and hard again,' she said.
Shannon's suggestion when it comes to using laundry detergents is to take a less-is-more approach.
She advises those using front-loading washing machines use one-eighth of the recommended amount of powder or liquid.
Top loading machines only need one-quarter of the recommended quantity.

If you're also looking for a way to cut drying time and costs, consider Shannon's little-known tip of adding a dry tea towel to your wash.
Speaking to Sunrise previously, Shannon said adding a dry tea towel to your wash means it will dry a third faster.
'It wicks the water away and spreads the surface area for the dryer to do its work,' she said.

Fabric softener is a product many use to keep clothing in pristine condition.
However, this isn't something Shannon is a fan of as she claims it doesn't work.
'Fabric softener is just oil based and all it is doing is sticking oil in the wash. Put the vinegar in the fabric conditioner slot - there's no smell left at all,' she said.
Her advice instead is to add two tablespoons of bicarb soda along with two tablespoons of white vinegar to each wash.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
