Craig Gordon fears a 'clouded' SFA disciplinary system will lead to people questioning the allegiances of those making the decisions.
The Celtic goalkeeper believes a lack of transparency allied to a number of contentious decisions have eroded faith in the system.
The new SFA review process sees a panel of three unnamed former referees retrospectively viewing incidents. And already this season, Alfredo Morelos has had a red card overturned, Kilmarnock's Gary Dicker and Aberdeen's Mikey Devlin failed with appeals against controversial dismissals and no action was taken against Rangers keeper Allan McGregor for a kick at Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer.

Expressing concern that the preservation of anonymity for the former referees could see their 'allegiances' queried, Gordon said: 'It seems quite a clouded subject in how they get to the decisions. As far as I'm aware it goes to three referees and there's no comeback. You don't know who they are. It's a strange system, you never know who the referees are or what their allegiances might be.
'I just think that's probably not the best way to go about it.
'I'm not saying I've got the answers but, certainly, if you've got the incidents that are happening on the pitch, if the referee misses them then there has to be that system in place that there is retrospective action and they should be getting that right.' Confusion exists over new guidelines reportedly introduced to cut down on the number of petulant red cards.
International Football Board rules say that dismissals for violent conduct should be the result of 'excessive force' or 'brutality'.
The definition of either 'excessive force' or 'brutality' might vary from country to country, however, and the SFA are reportedly seeking clarification of exactly where the line should be drawn.
Rangers keeper Allan McGregor escaped sanction for aiming kick at Celtic's Kristoffer Ajer
Rangers striker Morelos had a red card overturned on appeal after appearing to kick out at Aberdeen's Scott McKenna.
Gordon did not claim that allegiances were influencing decisions, but suggested a lack of transparency over the identities of those making them could lead to people believing the decisions in favour of McGregor and Morelos looked that way.
'We don't know who the panel is, so it's hard to know either way,' he said.
'It makes it look like there's that possibility and it shouldn't be that way.
'We just need to know exactly what's happening, what is violent conduct and what's not. Then everybody abides by those laws and we get on with it.
'It's happened now, that's the decision and we move on. He (McGregor) is free to play in the next match but for Rangers they've got more than two great goalkeepers so, whoever plays in the first team, they'll have a great goalie.
'So I don't think it makes a difference to points or to the league - it's just about getting decisions right.' Gordon, meanwhile, insists he won't throw the toys out of the pram if McGregor remains Scotland's first-choice goalkeeper throughout the Nations League qualifiers.
The Celtic keeper played in the 4-0 friendly loss to Belgium, with his Rangers rival starting in the competitive 2-0 win over Albania.
'That might have been the case this time but we've got another two games next time,' said Gordon.
'It could be the other way around the next time. I don't know what the manager is thinking, it's something you would need to ask him.
'I want to play as many as I possibly can. I want to play every one if I could. But that's the manager's decision.
'I need to play as well as I can for Celtic. I need to train well with Scotland - I was happy with how I trained this time - then it's up to the manager who he chooses. That's all I can do.' Celtic goalkeeper coach Stevie Woods played a key role in discussions with Alex McLeish over his choice of keeper.
Claiming there was no awkwardness over his club coach potentially influencing McGregor's selection as No1, Gordon added: 'It was the same the other way round when Jim Stewart was at Rangers with Allan previously and I was playing for Scotland. These things happen.
'Goalies know the situation, only one is going to play.
'We both respect each other and the abilities we've got.
'There's no problem between us and Woodsy enjoyed the coaching with all of us.'

The new SFA review...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
