«Breaking News» Celebrities star in new M&S food campaign

Marks & Spencer has unveiled its biggest ever social media campaign, featuring a panel of celebrities who will judge their new food releases in a new Instagram video each month.

The retail giant revealed the new campaign today which stars TV favourites Amanda Holden, Rochelle Humes, Paddy McGuinness and Emma Willis all sharing their guilty pleasures.

The debut episode of the 12-month series sees the four food fans tasting and choosing their favourite meal from a range of tasty dishes.

Viewers will see the celebrities taste and debate their favourite dishes with 'plenty of banter, irreverent humour and good fun' thrown into the mix.

The campaign includes the retailer's first ever use of Instagram TV and was made especially for this new content stream, which launched only three months ago.

It marks the first time social-first video content has been generated and used in M&S food marketing.

The famous foodies will be sampling the new range influenced by Italy including dishes such as chicken, pea and pancetta risotto, beef ragu, king prawn risotto, scallops, pancetta and pea linguine, parmesan ravioli as well as a chunky vegetable pasta sauce.

In this week's installment, the parmesan ravioli gets a big thumbs up from the foursome, as Paddy exclaims: 'That should be illegal because that is ridiculous!'

The famous foodies had to choose their favourite Italian dish from the new range from Marks & Spencer's which proved difficult as they agreed that the options were all very tasty and authentic

Development chef John explains to the panel that researchers were inspired on a trip to Rome for the dish and replicated the flavours they experienced in the Italian capital.

Amanda isn't able to sample all the dishes as a vegetarian, but still heartily tucks into the parmesan dishes and labels the £3 meal as her favourite.

Rochelle finds her decision a bit more difficult but eventually settles on the scallops, pancetta and pea linguine at £4, while Emma lists the £3 basil pesto girasoli as her favourite.

It was a close call for Paddy between the Parmesan and the £4 slow-cooked beef ragu papperdelle but he opts for the meaty main saying: 'It's a crowd pleaser, the beef was very tender.'

As a vegetarian Amanda wasn't able to sample all the dishes but said the one that came out on top for her was the Parmesan ravioli which the rest of the gang all said was delicious

Speaking about the campaign, M&S food marketing director Sharry Cramond said: 'Amanda, Rochelle, Paddy and Emma and their families are all big food fans and when I approached them to make a video with us and talk about their favourites, they all said it sounded like a dream job.'

She added: 'The videos are completely unscripted so filming them is like watching a group of friends chatting in the kitchen which makes the whole process really natural and authentic.'

The celebrity panel's favourite M&S meals

Rochelle Humes - Scallop, pea and pancetta linguine £4

Amanda Holden - Parmesan ravioli £3

Paddy McGuinness - Slow-cooked beef ragu pappardelle £4

Emma Willis - Basil pesto girasoli £3

Britain's Got Talent panellist Amanda Holden added: 'I'm always in M&S, I visit all the branches near my house. I don't just go in there for treats, I do my full shop, because I'm rubbish at cooking, but I know that my kids and my family are still getting amazing food.'

Calling it the 'easiest yes ever', The Saturdays singer Rochelle Humes said: 'I shop there all the time, and I feel like I know what's down every aisle anyway so it just made sense!'

Meanwhile TV presenter Paddy McGuinness praised the quality of their food, writing: 'For me, if you've bought something from here you instantly know it's going to be good before you've even put it in your mouth.

'And, it was that quality that drew me in: I knew it was all going to be tasty'.

Big Brother presenter Emma Willis joked that her 'prayers had been answered', adding: 'Every day I think; "Oh, I just need to pop to M&S!"

'So, it felt like I'd been putting a message out to the universe over the last 20 years, and the universe finally answered.'

The digital campaign launches on M&S Instagram TV, YouTube and Facebook on Sunday 9th September and the first episode will run for the month of September

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
