But after being axed from the show last year, ex-Strictly star Brendan Cole put on a cheeky display on Instagram on Monday, flashing his peachy posterior as he went skinny dipping in Italy.

The 42-year-old New Zealand dancer showed off his bare behind as he swam under a stunning waterfall in the country, as his former Strictly colleagues are set to take to the floor for their first dance this weekend.

Brendan captioned the post: 'Beautiful Italian countryside... couldn’t resist a naked dip.'

And it seems the dancing pro has been enjoying some time alone on the break, after wife Zoe Hobbs also took to social media to share a message of how much she was missing him.

Sharing a snap of them on a night out she wrote: 'To my gorgeous husband and best friend of 10 years @brendancoleinsta. I miss you like crazy but so glad you are off on an adventure and gaining precious life experiences. 

'I can’t wait to have you back so we can continue on our journey together with our beautiful family. Thanks for being my rock.'

Busy: Another snap Brendan shared revealed he's been working on a secret project in Italy

Brendan seemed to be enjoying a bit of time away from his family, as his former Strictly colleagues prepare to take to the floor this weekend.

However he did take to Instagram last month to post a video from his poolside getaway in Mallorca to wish this year's pros 'all the best.'

He said: 'This is a message to all of my Strictly friends who are back in the studio today, today is day one of season 16. Guys, wishing you all the very best for the brand new season.'

The star revealed in January that he had been axed from the BBC favourite after 14 years on the show, as sources said producers had finally had enough of his behaviour.

Speaking Lorraine Kelly he said: 'This is hard to talk about. The BBC haven't renewed my contract. They have made an editorial decision not to have me back on the show. I have had 15 incredible series on the show, they are a great team.

'I am very disappointed. It's an editorial decision. I will never know the ins and outs.'

The BBC told MailOnline at the time: 'We'd like to thank Brendan for being part of the show since the beginning - winner of the first series - and for the contribution he has made to its success. We wish him all the very best for the future.'

However sources also told MailOnline:'The judges did not want him back. The rows he had in the last series with judges Shirley Ballas and Bruno Tonioli were the last straw.

'Brendan was stubborn and did not back down, which created an atmosphere backstage at the last series.

'The producers believe no one is bigger than the show. Not one judge has reached out to him which says a lot. He was not popular. His time was up and it seemed like Brendan was the last to know.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
