«Breaking News» Bond's favourite car maker targets women with new £170,000 SUV

It is best known as James Bond’s car of choice, but now Aston Martin has come up with a motor aimed more at Moneypenny than 007.

The iconic British sports car firm is launching an SUV next year – and, for the first time in its 105-year history, it will be designed with the woman buyer in mind.

Potential customers will need a bigger bank balance than flirtatious PA Moneypenny, most recently played by Naomie Harris, as the car is likely to cost between £150,000 and £170,000.

So far, only pictures of a two-door vehicle have been released but Aston Martin is in the process of building a larger four-door version aimed at families.

Details, such as top speed or fuel efficiency, are still a closely guarded secret but it is known the car will have a luxury leather interior with the latest technology.

The marque’s association with Bond movies began in 1964 when Sean Connery drove a DB5 in Goldfinger. After a brief absence, Aston returned to Bond in Daniel Craig’s debut in Casino Royale in 2006.

To help engineers in Warwickshire design a car that women would buy, a fictional character called ‘Charlotte’ – a 43-year-old senior healthcare executive and working mum – was created.

Chief executive Andy Palmer told The Mail on Sunday: ‘It absolutely doesn’t mean that a man is not going to buy it, but it means the car must fit Charlotte and people like-minded. She gardens and has an active lifestyle, as well as being a mum. She is extravagant and expressive in her buying behaviour, but also savvy and demands value.’

Aston Martin, which has gone bust seven times in its history, is trying to broaden its appeal by attracting women and buyers from China and America. As of 2015, only 3,500 – or five per cent – of the 70,000 cars sold by Aston in its history were bought by women. The new DBX car is likely to be called the Varekai and is expected to hit the roads towards the end of next year.

Yesterday, it emerged the firm has recruited its first female chairman to steer a planned £5 billion stock market flotation – former Coca-Cola executive Penny Hughes.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
