Summer may be almost over, but according to interiors experts the biggest trends for Autumn/Winter 2018  will allow you to extend that holiday feeling well into the colder months.

Experts from three of the UK's leading home style brands, The Rug Seller, I Want Wallpaper and Apollo Blinds, have revealed how marble surfaces, flamingos and millennial pink are out in favour of a more grown-up look. 

One surprisingly bright trend is the exotic global traveller style which includes Africana, Romantic Moroccan and Mexican Fiesta influences. 

Another is rich autumnal floral wallpaper and matching furniture that will add a splash of colour to your home.

A more classic look sees an autumn and winter take on the 1970s, with the retro trend bringing a classy and sophisticated look.

And for those of you who prefer a moodier look during the winter months, there is the 'dark decadence' trend, which has seen homeowners shunning magnolia walls in favour of bold shades of midnight blue and even black. 

The exotic global traveller style will be a big trend this autumn and winter and an animal print wallpaper is one of the ways you can ace it, as well as adding a cosy feel 

EXOTIC GLOBAL TRAVELLER INFLUENCES

AFRICANA   

Daniel Prendergast, design director at therugseller.co.uk, said: 'This autumn we'll see room schemes that conjure the idea of exotic escapes reimagined with cosy textures and a deep autumnal colour palette. 

'Two geographical areas are emerging as particularly popular, Africa (including Morocco) and South America (in particular Mexico).

'Heritage prints and tribal patterns, alongside animal motifs will create the feel of a sun-soaked safari even in the depths of winter.'

DESIGN TIP:  

Daniel continued: 'Utilise texture and rich colour to add some winter warmth. Warm reds and orange tones mixed alongside rich greens give this look an autumnal spin.

Animal hide and skins, either on floor coverings or faux effect wallpaper, are another great way to introduce the look. 

On the floor, traditional hides always look great but if the room dictates a larger or 'squarer' rug, then patchwork leather/animal hide can be another option.'

MEXICAN FIESTA  

'This look is all about celebrating colour,' said Daniel. 'Vibrant tones in the home can be really uplifting when it's cold outside.

'Plus, the colour experts at Pantone have also predicted we'll be decorating with some vivid and unconventional colours in A/W including pink peacock, quetzal green, russet and valiant poppy.'

DESIGN TIP:     

'Introduce Mexican motifs with snakeskin, cacti or candy skulls. Flat woven colourful Kelim rugs inspired by the distinctive traditional 'Huichol patterns' of Mexico bring the party vibe to the floor,' Daniel added. 

Another example of the exotic traveller trend is the Mexican Fiesta style which is all about celebrating colour with deep reds and burned oranges 

You can introduce some classic Mexican motifs to your home with snakeskin, cacti or candy skulls, such as Day of the Dead wallpaper 

ROMANTIC MOROCCO

Apollo Blinds' product design director Mike Stephen said: 'Moroccan interior design is all sumptuous fabrics and about intricate pattern-work or tiling.'

DESIGN TIP: 

Mike continued: 'Evoke the exotic and romantic feel of Morocco with damask patterned window blinds. A rich grey base with intricate metallic detailing will update the look for autumn winter.

Hanging metal lamps and authentic shaggy rugs, as well as tiled wallpaper can all help to achieve this mysterious and romantic look.'  

The romantic Morocco style is another way you can ace the new trend this autumn or winter and the style all about intricate patterns and tile-effect wallpaper

AUTUMN FLORALS 

Head of design at iwantwallpaper.co.uk Alex Whitecroft explained: 'Floral wallpaper is set to be a popular look throughout the winter, and isn't just for summer.'

DESIGN TIP: 

Alex continued: 'Update florals with rich autumnal colourways and matching furniture in plush fabrics. 

Or choose a palette of dusky pink and warm neutrals and create a cosy feel by layering up throws and textures throughout the room.'

RETRO REVIVAL

Design Director at therugseller.coo.uk Daniel Prendergast said: 'Autumn/winter's take on the 1970s trend is clear about its origins yet mellow and sophisticated.'

DESIGN TIP: 

Daniel continued: 'A touch of paisley, mid-century furniture and a brown or orange rug on stripped back floorboards looks chic and effortless. 

'Teraccotta is a key colourway shag pile rugs are back.' 

You can also bring back the vintage look with this retro revival trend which shows off an autumn and winter take on the 1970s, including the famed shag pile rug

The mix of colours and items will help you to effortlessly make your home look chic and sophisticated

DARK DECADENCE

Head of Design at iwantwallpaper.co.uk Alex Whitecroft said: 'The opulence of midnight blue, rich russet, amethyst, emerald green and deep teal will be popular this season - and even black is making a comeback. 

'It has a real cocooning effect and it's nigh on impossible to clash with.'

DESIGN TIP: 

Alex continued: 'Metallic highlights (especially gold) shine brightest against a black backdrop. 

'Alternatively, take Pantone's advice and 'mix in some more surprising shades that express originality, ingenuity and creativity.'

For people who prefer darker hues this winter, the dark decadence trend is a perfect look for your home

Combinations of black and midnight blue can come together to ensure that your home looks opulent and warm

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
