«Breaking News» Alisson and Jorginho among players to impress in Premier League so far

The 2018-19 Premier League season may be just four games old but already there are a number of players setting the bar high with impressive performances.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Watford all have 100 per cent records, Manchester City have dropped points at Wolves in their title defence and Manchester United have lost two of their first four fixtures.

Sportsmail has looked over the stats and picked four players who have been the most impressive in their respective positions so far this campaign.

ALISSON'S TOP STATS 18-19

Clean Sheets - 3

Save % - 90.9%

Long pass accuracy - 66%

Short pass accuracy - 97%

Overall accuracy - 88%

Goalkeeper - Alisson (Liverpool)

Shrewd defensive performances from Liverpool this season have produced three clean sheets and continue to underline the progress made by Jurgen Klopp at the back end of the pitch.

The Reds forked out £67million for Alisson from Roma earlier this summer and the Brazilian has been a cornerstone of their performances so far. He made one costly error in the victory over Leicester when a Cruyff turn went downhill very quickly but that should not take away from his impressive start to life on Merseyside.

As mentioned before he has kept three clean sheets, the highest in the division with Joe Hart (Burnley), Alex McCarthy (Southampton), Neil Etheridge (Cardiff) and Kepa Arrizabalaga (Chelsea) all on two.

Alisson also boasts the highest save percentage in the entire division with the 25-year-old keeping out 90.9 per cent of the shots he has faced. One of the notable qualities of Alisson is his distribution. On his debut in a pre-season friendly against Napoli he launched an 80-yard through ball to Mohamed Salah that almost led to a goal.

That kind of footwork has continued in league fixtures. In total he has made 118 passes with a long pass accuracy of 66 per cent, the next highest is 38 per cent. Couple that figure with his short pass completion of 97 per cent and you get a handsome overall accuracy figure of 88 per cent.

JAMES TARKOWSKI'S TOP STATS 18-19

Clearances - 34

Blocks - 7

Aerial duels - 28

Aerial duels success - 82.1%

Defender - James Tarkowski (Burnley)

With a European distraction early on in the season, Burnley have started their league campaign with three defeats and one draw.

Losses at home to Manchester United and Watford and a defeat at Fulham has left Sean Dyche's side languishing near the bottom of the table but James Tarkowski continues to impress in the heart of the defence.

The 25-year-old is on the fringes of Gareth Southgate's England team and, if not for the rise of Joe Gomez early in the season, he may have played against Spain at Wembley on Saturday night.

Tarkowski is associated with dogged displays, aerial superiority and a resiliency that has made him one of the standout defenders in the top flight since joining Burnley from Brentford in 2016.

So far this season the 25-year-old has made 34 clearances and is only beaten by Cardiff's Sol Bamba (35). He has also thrown himself into seven blocks, the same as team-mate Ben Mee but short of leader Christopher Schindler (9).

Tarkowski has been involved in the most aerial duels in the division with 28 and has an exceptional success rate of 82.1 per cent.

JORGINHO'S TOP STATS 18-19

Passes: 417

Successful passes in opposition half: 247

Successful passes ending in final third: 110

Distance covered: 47.2km

Midfielder - Jorginho (Chelsea)

Jorginho arrived at Chelsea with a burden of expectation that he would be the hub and focal point of Maurizio Sarri's dynamic new system.

Having worked with the Italian manager at Napoli, the 26-year-old has been at the core of the new-look and offensive style on display at Stamford Bridge. He has impressed in the early stages of his Premier League career, dictating play in the heart of midfield as the Blues have eased to four wins from four.

Jorginho has made 417 passes in just four games. He put on a passing clinic during the first half of the trip to Newcastle United and completed 19 more passes than the entire Magpies team combined in the first 45 minutes.

Of those 417, he has made 247 successful passes in the opposition half showing his importance to building up attacking play.  He has also made 110 successful passes that have ended up in the final third of the pitch.

For all his technical ability Jorginho is also putting in the hard yards and has covered a huge amount of distance. He has so far ran 47.2 kilometres, third overall in the division behind Tottenham's Christian Eriksen (49.6km) and Dan Gosling of Bournemouth (48.1km).

RICHARLISON'S TOP STATS 18-19

Goals: 3

Shots: 5

Minutes per goal: 71

Shots per goal: 1.7

Shooting accuracy: 100%

Forward - Richarlison (Everton)

There were a few eyebrows raised when Everton decided to fork out £44m for Richarlison this summer. He impressed in the early stages of last season but fell away sharply with Watford.

Marco Silva insisted he was the man to breath new life into Everton's attack though and so far so good, apart from his red card for a headbutt away at Bournemouth last month.

The 21-year-old has even received his first Brazil call-up for this week's games against the United States and El Salvador. It is a reward for an impressive start for his new club, for whom he has scored three goals in his opening three matches.

As far as statistics show, Richarlison has been one of the most economical forwards in the entire Premier League. As mentioned before has three goals so far and averages one every 71 minutes.

Those three strikes have also come from just five shots in total, giving him an impressive shots to goal ratio of 1.7. Of those five attempts on goal, they have all been on target meaning he has a shooting accuracy of 100 per cent, something only matched by Wilfried Zaha and Bernardo Silva.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
