She's the Australian decluttering expert who has the ability to transform any messy space into a thing of streamlined beauty.

And now Anita Birges, founder of Mise en Place, has revealed her top three organisational hacks guaranteed to help you stay on top of it all in 2019.

The tidying professional offers her best advice for how to keep a cluttered wardrobe in check and for whipping an unsightly cutlery drawer into shape in no time.

She also reveals how you can set up your fridge so everything is easy to find, meaning you'll waste less food and save more money.

 1. The Reverse Hanger Hack

When it comes to decluttering your wardrobe it can be overwhelming to decide on what should be kept and what should be removed.

Often clothing has sentimental value, or there's the all too common excuse of potentially needing the item for a special, yet unspecified, occasion.

At the start of the new year, Anita employs a simple trick to let her know what she should keep, sell, donate or throw out: She hangs up all her clothing with the hangers facing the opposite way.

After six months, clothing that's not worn will still be hung facing the wrong direction, a sign a particular item should be considered no longer necessary

'You are going to take your clothes and get your hangers and reverse them so the open end of your hanger is now facing outwards. Turn them from the inside out,' she said on a Facebook video.

'Every time you wear a piece of clothing now - say I want to wear this red top - I am going to take it off and wear it and when I put it back I put it with the open end back to normal.'

Ms Birges urges everyone to follow the technique and see how much of a difference it makes to their organisation in six months.

'In six months I am going to know exactly what I've worn. Everything that hasn't been turned around will be donated or sold,' she said.

2.  The best way to organise your fridge

There's nothing more disheartening than opening the fridge door to be met by overflowing shelves and food that's potentially spoilt.

Anita said an organised fridge comes with many benefits, namely you can tell what food you have, what food you need as well as food you may need to toss.

'Having an organised fridge can make such a positive difference to someone's day, given the number of times we go in there - making breakfast, lunch and dinner and everything in between,' she said.

She explains her process for sorting out the fridge starts with moving all raw meat and seafood on the bottom shelf to prevent unwanted drips and spoilage or contamination of other food items.

If leftovers are a regular feature in the home, Anita suggests dedicating a single shelf for these in order to save yourself from the 'hide and seek' game.

The expert adds it's important to bring foods most regularly used to the front of the fridge as well as storing kids' food at a height that's easy for them to reach.

Anita said when sorting out the fridge remember it is possible to move shelving to suit your needs, buy extra storage containers and make use of labelling.

'You can also change the height of the shelves on the door! So, adjust to suit what you are storing to ensure you don't have any unused space.'

The cutlery drawer tends to be a space where excess kitchen items can quickly build up meaning it doesn't take long for it to become disorganised

3. Whip a cutlery drawer into shape in 10 minutes

The cutlery drawer tends to be a space where excess kitchen items can quickly build up meaning it doesn't take long for it to become messy and disorganised.

While dealing with this might seem like an arduous task, Anita said if you've got a spare 10 minutes you can sort this space with minimal fuss.

To do this, she recommends working with two containers and a clear bench space. You need both for the decluttering process.

Then take everything out, putting items you want to keep in one and items you want to throw away in another.

Her trick when decluttering is to move quickly and while doing so to ask yourself if you have double ups or if the item is broken or rusted.

After you've thrown out items you no longer use, Anita suggests to group the one's you're left with together

'Providing you’re serious about decluttering and creating a slower, simpler home, your initial answer is going to be right. So don’t second-guess yourself. And if in doubt – chuck it out (or give it away),' she said.

Once this is done, give the drawer a thorough clean with some white vinegar and a clean cloth. Make sure it's also been properly dried.

Before you put the items you're keeping back inside the drawer, group these with similar items.

Also, she said to consider investing in drawer dividers so you can create more than one area to place things within the one drawer.

'I can guarantee you’ll be shocked at how much you can clear out in 10 minutes, and what a difference it will make to the way you feel in your home.'

The tidying...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
