«Breaking News» Meghan Markle confirmed as new patron of the National Theatre a day early after IT gaffe

Meghan Markle has been confirmed as the new patron of the National Threatre a day early - after her secret unveiling ceremony was posted on their website.

The Duchess of Sussex, 37, is set to be announced as the royal patron of the National Theatre tomorrow, but an IT gaffe saw the occasion listed under their events section.

The embarrassing blunder was spotted by journalist Hannah Furness, who shared a screenshot on Twitter with the caption: 'Whoops! Looks like the first patronage 'secret' is officially official thanks to the National Theatre's IT department. "The Duchess of Sussex announced as our new Royal Patron".'

The event has since been removed from the website.

It comes after the Mail On Sunday revealed Meghan would be given the coveted position last week.

A royal insider told the paper the decision was a mark of the Queen's growing confidence in the Duchess, who married Prince Harry in May.

Meghan is said to have had a private meeting with the NT's director Rufus Morris last month, where they discussed plans for her role.

Royal insiders have claimed Meghan's career as an actress makes her a 'natural fit' for the position, after she starred in the U.S. legal drama Suits for seven years.

In her new role, Meghan will become involved with the New York-based charity he American Associates of the National Theatre, which donates more than £3million a year.

Since moving to the UK, Meghan has taken an interest in the arts, going to see the hit musical Hamilton twice, visiting Brinsworth House which supports former artists and entertainers, and attending the Royal Variety Performance in November.

Both the National Theatre and the Palace have declined to comment.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
