«Breaking News» Houston teen charged with shooting dead his friend during 'no lackin' challenge

An 18-year-old boy from Houston has been charged with manslaughter after police say he shot and killed his best friend while performing the 'No Lackin Challenge' last month.

According to a statement from the Houston Police Department, on the night of December 11, Christian Estes-Johnson, 19, was hanging out at his home in the 6000 block of Ivy Knoll with Mohamad Alajil, 18, when the pair decided to play a game, in which one person pulls a loaded gun on the other who, in turn, is expected to produce his own loaded gun.

Police say Alajil pointed a semi-automatic pistol at Estes-Johnson, who trained an AR-15 on Alajil.

At some point, Alajil stretched out his arm and the trigger was pulled, causing the pistol to discharge a round that struck Estes-Johnson in the head.

After the 19-year-old collapsed dead, Alajil reportedly dropped the weapon an fled, despite attempts by the victim’s two brothers to stop him.

When first interviewed by police, Alajil falsely claimed that he and Estes-Johnson had gotten into an argument and that he shot his friend in self-defense.

The 18-year-old later changed his story, admitting that he and the victim were doing the Internet 'No Lacking Challenge.'

The online fad, which has been making the rounds on social media for more than a year, shows young people pulling guns on one another and filming the response.

Participants are not supposed to fire on one another.

The term refers to 'lacking' a gun, and the challenge is presented as a way to test the readiness of an individual should they need a firearm to protect themselves.

On Wednesday, three weeks after the fatal shooting in Houston, police arrested Alajil on a charge of second-degree manslaughter.

Estes-Johnson’s sister told KTRK the family are convinced that Alajil intended to kill Christian and that he should have faced more serious charges.

‘I think he should be charged with first degree murder,’ said Shyra Estes-Johnson. ‘He planned to come into my house and kill and rob my brother.'

Christian and Shyra's mother, Pearla Estes, went so far as to slam the lower charge a ‘slap in the face' and insisted during an interview with the Houston Chronicle that her son never played the gun game.

The 19-year-old reportedly played football and basketball in high school, was an active member of a Christian group and wanted to enlist in the US Army.

Alajil, who is a Syrian national, had his bond set at $250,000 bond after prosecutors argued that he is a flight risk and that he presents a danger to the community.

At the time of Estes-Johnson's killing, Alajil was out on $50,000 bond awaiting trial in an aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon case.

At least two other teenage boys have been injured, and two others landed behind bars, as a result of playing the dangerous ‘No Lackin Challenge’ over the past year.

Then in June of last year, a 16-year-old Texas boy was shot in the face under similar circumstances.

The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
