«Breaking News» The healthiest McDonalds meals are revealed

McDonald's isn't usually the first place you go when trying to lose weight or pursue a healthier lifestyle - but it turns out, if you're really craving it, there are some options that won't cost you much in terms of calorie consumption. 


Several dietitians have revealed what they believe are the healthier options at McDonald's, enabling you to get your fast food fix without falling completely off the healthy-eating wagon.


The best news? The fast-food chain's beloved french fries are on the list - if you opt for a small portion, that is.  


Sarah Koszyk and Melanie Flinn, both registered dietitians, spoke to Women's Health about the best foods to order at the U.S. chain.


Their top picks included apple slices, an Egg McMuffin, a hamburger and fries - but the list of lower-calorie menu options doesn't stop there.

1. Southwest Salad with grilled chicken 


Chosen by the dietitians for its high protein content, the Southwest Salad with grilled chicken contains a variety of nutritional value. 


Altogether, the salad contains 350 calories, 37 grams of protein and 11 grams of fat. 


To put it into perspective, the recommended daily intake of calories for the average woman is 2,000 calories per day, while the recommended amount for the average man is 2,500 (when trying to maintain weight), according to Health Line.   


The recommended protein intake is 56 grams per day for the average sedentary man, and 46 grams per day for the average sedentary woman.


Cleveland Clinic recommends in-taking roughly 44 to 77 of fat per day if you eat 2,000 calories a day.


Speaking about the salad, Melanie told the publication: 'Salads are typically associated with being a healthy choice.'


However, she added that it is important to take into consideration if there are any fried foods, dressings or cheese added, as this can change the nutritional value of the meal.

 2. Egg White Delight McMuffin

Available on the breakfast menu, the Egg White Delight McMuffin is a healthier option than some of the menu's more calorie dense breakfast meals.


It contains 380 calories, six grams of fat and 36 grams of protein. 


Melanie said the breakfast sandwich is a protein-packed option due to its egg white and lean Canadian bacon content. 


However, if this is going to be your dish of choice, keep in mind that you'll have to stick to a schedule in order to get it. 


McDonald's breakfast hours vary depending on location, but usually run from 5am until 10:30am during the weekdays, and finish at 11:00am on the weekends. 


3. Artisan Grilled Chicken Classic Sandwich


Describing the sandwich, Sarah said the sandwich will 'save you calories' because it is low in fat. 


The grilled chicken sandwich contains 380 calories. It also boasts 36 grams of protein, and just seven grams of fat.  


The meal can be made even healthier by adding a side salad or vegetables rather than french fries.

4. Happy Meal 


According to Sarah, Happy Meals can be ideal for adults, and not just children.


She credits McDonald's portion sizes for adding to the meal, because their smaller portions allow customers to enjoy their best foods - burgers and fries. 


She said: 'Order a cheeseburger, kids fries, and apple slices, which provide a well-balanced meal including a serving of fruit from the apples, protein from the burger and cheese, and grains and starches from the bun and fries.'


For an alternative option, substitute the burger for chicken nuggets - four of which contain 180 calories and ten grams of protein.

5. Hamburger 


The classic hamburger is one of McDonald's best-known, iconic meals. 


The burger contains 250 calories, 13 grams of protein and eight grams of fat altogether. 


By adding a side of small fries and a side salad, Melanie says you'll slightly add to the calorie content without going overboard.


She said: 'If you have a hankering for a burger, try their regular hamburger and add a side salad plus an order of small fries


You'll satisfy that burger and fry craving, but will still stay just under 500 calories with 19 grams of fat and 17 grams of protein (not including dressing),' she added.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
