Friends of two musicians who killed themselves in a suicide pact in a New York hotel have paid tribute to the pair and described them as 'beautiful souls'.
David Koenig, 33, and Ellen O'Meara, 30, were found dead in their room at the Yotel Hotel in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood of Manhattan on Thursday night.
The two friends were found dead in their 18th floor room by a cleaning lady.
Koenig and O'Meara left an apologetic note explaining their suicide pact and saying they just couldn't live anymore, a source told the New York Post.
Friends of the pair have since paid tribute to the two musicians as they mourn their deaths.

'Ellen was a truly wonderful daughter, sister and friend. Her generosity of spirit was boundless and touched so many,' a tribute post on the Gold Bolus Recordings Facebook page read.
'Ellen's music is as unique as she was - complex, multi-faceted and beautiful. She leaves behind a body of work which we will continue to share in the weeks and months ahead.'
O'Meara's composition teacher Jason Eckardt tweeted: 'Heartbroken over the passing of Ellen O'Meara and Dave Koenig, two beautiful souls that burned bright, hard, and much too quickly.'
'The world lost a lovely human and a great musician this weekend. Please honor Ellen O and go listen to her music. I'm honored I got to sing with Ellen O'Meara back in the day,' Brigit Young wrote on Twitter.
O'Meara had lived in Brooklyn's Park Slope while Koenig was from Ridgewood, Queens.
One of the last text messages that Koenig sent was to a member of his band, Cesspool, explaining that he would not be at practice.
The pair are believed to have met several years ago, according to social media.
Friends of the two said they were destined to share the same end.
'Their friends were very upset, but not surprised,' a police officer told the Post.
'It's almost as if from the first day these two people met, they knew they were going to die together.'
The pair had left a note, which was found by the cleaner, at about 7pm on Thursday.
The note said: 'Don't look behind the curtain. We're dead. This is for you'. They had also left several $20 bills for the hotel employee who found their bodies.

The cleaning woman found that the doorway was blocked by a plastic sheet when she entered the room.
She could not see beyond the sheet by the entrance into the room but found the grim note and cash tip taped to the sheet.
Despite the instruction not to look, she found their bodies lying in bed with a plastic bag over both of their heads.
The bag had plastic tubes leading to two nitrous oxide canisters.
Also found in the room was the signed suicide note explaining the the pair's intent to kill themselves and their wills.
The book 'Suicide and Attempted Suicide: Methods and Consequences' by Geo Stone, was found under the bed with the section on suffocation bookmarked.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
