«Breaking News» Firenadoes spring up after winds whip a giant 150ft New Year’s bonfire that burns out of control

A traditional New Year's Eve bonfire competition in the Netherlands took a terrifying turn as winds caused huge fire tornadoes that raged out of control and ignited fires on the roofs of nearby homes and buildings.

The bonfire was made out of wooden pallets and built on a beach in Scheveningen, a coastal resort of The Hague which competes with neighbouring Duindorp every New Year's Eve to build the largest fire.

However, this year's contest was hit by high winds which whipped the flames into tornadoes and sent ash and sparks all over the area.

The bonfire was supposed to be 150ft tall but Pauline Krikke, the Mayor of The Hague, said that it could have been '13 metres (42 ft) higher' as builders had 'added stacks of wood overnight'.

Several fires were reported at homes and buildings, although nobody is believed to have been injured.

The fires raged for hours before firefighters eventually brought it under control in the early hours of January 1.

Mayor Krikke said that authorities would now be looking into what exactly went wrong with this year's bonfires and whether it's appropriate to continue the annual event.

She told the NL Times: 'This was awful. I can imagine that people experienced anxious moments.

'For them a festive evening ended in a personal drama. I sympathise very much with residents and entrepreneurs who are affected.

'The builders have put extra wood on the piles in the middle of the night.'

Shocking footage taken near the beach and site of the bonfire shows a stunned crowd watching the flames with embers and ash flying over their heads.

The falling embers singed clothes and hair and also ignited several small building fires, according to local media.

Every year from December 27 to 31, Scheveningen and Duindorp compete on the beach of Scheveningen to see who has the highest fire.

In 2014, Duindorp's fire became the largest in the world.

The stake with 30,000 pallets was recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest.

Link hienalouca.com Interesting to note Looking for an investor or sponsor for a project to grow dinosaurs and relict plants. Requires the sum of investments from 400000$ to 900000$. The exact amount can not say because there are many nuances. It will be necessary to build a small laboratory with certain parameters. To all interested persons please write on an email angocman@gmail.com . It is the scientific project and I do not know whether it is possible to earn on it. The probability of success of the project is approximately 60%. That will be very interesting.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
