Singer Erykah Badu was booed on stage and lambasted online after she defended rapper R Kelly at her concert on Saturday night.
Speaking to a crowd at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom, Badu reportedly criticized the widespread outrage against the R&B singer in the wake of Lifetime's damning documentary Surviving R Kelly, which details decades of alleged sex abuse and misconduct.
One attendee quoted Badu on Twitter as saying: 'What if one of the people who was assaulted by R Kelly becomes an offender? We gonna crucify them too?'
Another claimed that she told the audience to 'keep [their] opinion to [themselves]'.

Badu was approached to appear in the bombshell documentary but declined, as did many other artists, according to producers.
While many of Kelly’s former collaborators, including Lady Gaga and Celine Dion, have denounced the singer over the allegations, social media evidence suggests Badu, a mother-of-three, is still a fan.
In the cryptic caption of an Instagram selfie on Thursday, she wrote: 'Having eyes that can see all points of view is a blessing... and a curse in the court of public opinion.'
It became clear that her words were likely about Kelly when she responded to a follower's comment.
'I loved you until I realized you supported a rapist and pedophile as your brother,' the comment said.
Badu replied: 'Correction, love has little to do with supporting others’ bad choices. Love is wisdom.'

Badu's perceived support of R Kelly has been widely condemned by fans on Twitter.
One user wrote: 'I really want to say how much i loved Erykah Badu’s concert tonight. But i can’t get over how she tried to justify and defend R. Kelly’s actions and reputation during her set... I’m so disappointed...'
One person wrote that it shouldn't come as a surprise that Badu made the remarks, given opinions she's shared previously.
'Erykah Badu is the same woman who said young girls are responsible for how grown men look and behave towards them, that girls should "lower their skirts"... is anyone really shocked she has a "both sides" love him regardless view on the topic of R Kelly and his nasty ways?' they wrote.
The tweet was in reference to a Twitter rant Badu went on in 2016, based off a New Zealand school making high school girls wear longer skirts so they're less likely to 'distract' male students and teachers.
Badu was forced to defend herself for weeks after posting: 'I agree. We are sexual beings. We should consider everyone. Young girls are attractive. Some males are distracted.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
