«Breaking News» Dancing On Ice: James Jordan delivers 'best routine EVER' and fans RANT about 'unfair advantage'

Former-Strictly Come Dancing pro James Jordan put on an effortless performance when he took to the rink for the Dancing On Ice launch on Sunday night.

And the 40-year-old ballroom professional left a bitter taste in the mouths of viewers, after the judges hailed it the best routine to ever be performed on a season debut.

Fans of the show took to Twitter to either praise the performance or slam the show for James' 'unfair advantage'.

Like a duck to... ice: James Jordan topped the leaderboard on Sunday's Dancing On Ice... much to may Twitter user's chagrin

One person tweeted: 'James Jordan (the professional ballroom dancer) competing with amateurs on #DancingOnIce is like a professional boxer competing in a amateur kickboxing competition...a tad unfair.'

A second posted: 'Hardly surprising he was good when he is a professional dancer. What a joke! Massive advantage!'

'What a shock! A trained ballroom dancer can also skate. He got the highest score because he is a professional dancer. Unfair to the other contestants!' another remarked. 

A fourth penned: 'Should James Jordan really be on Dancing on Ice? Once he's found his feet he can't practically do everything as he is a professional dancer. Not fair really is it!'

On the flip side, he had a myriad of supporters too: '@The_JamesJordan Wow! Wow! You were incredible on the ice tonight,honestly it was hard to tell who was the professional. Well done James,can't wait to see what you do next!!'

'Just because he is a professional dancer does NOT necessarily make him a good ice skater! CRIPES!' another penned.

A third wrote: 'James Jordan was fab! I know he’s a professional dancer, but it’s not easy to do what he does on ice skates! Actual, proper dance content in the choreography too!'

A fourth posted: 'Don't understand the hate for James Jordan. Yes he is a professional dancer but he has never ice skated before. It's a completely new technique that he has had to learn along with every one else.'

James - who was cheered on by his wife Ola, also an ex-Strictly pro, from the stands - topped the leaderboard after (somewhat ironically) dancing to I Can't Dance with partner Alexandra Schauman.

The judges - Jason Gardiner, Ashley Banjo, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean - showered James with praise, after handing out fairly paltry scores to those dancing before him.

Perfect start: Judge Jason Gardiner declared that 'finally we have hope', Ashley Banjo branded the performance 'buttery', while Jayne Torvill said - 'It was the best we've ever seen in show one'

Jason declared that 'finally we have hope', Ashley branded the performance 'buttery', while Jane said: 'It was the best we've ever seen in show one!'

He received 30.5/40 overall, topping the leaderboard.

The likes of Gemma Collins, Didi Conn and Mark Little received much lower marks, and Mark came last - and will face next week's skate off.

Dancing On Ice returns to ITV next Sunday from 6PM.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
