«Breaking News» Colleen Ballinger shows reality of motherhood in Twitter post

YouTube and Netflix star Colleen Ballinger shared a post to Twitter on January 16 to show her followers a realistic version of what being a mother looks like.

The 32-year-old, who is best known as her online comedic personality Miranda Sings - which she developed into Netflix series Haters Back Off - posted a photo of herself posing in a mirror as she stood with no makeup, and was covered in baby barf and leaking milk.

The photo was accompanied by a caption that read: 'I see a lot of moms online who portray a perfect, easy lifestyle. but this is a more realistic version of what motherhood looks like.'

She continued: 'I wish more people would show their reality instead of the most perfect version of themselves online. Cuz the messy stuff is beautiful too.'

Colleen posted two of the same photos to Twitter, one of which she added annotations to show the reality of being a mother.

The YouTube sensation revealed that in a no-makeup selfie she took in front of a mirror in her California home she was covered in baby barf, leaking milk, and baby pee.

She also outlined to her almost two million followers that she has excess skin on her stomach as a result of her pregnancy, and that she is surrounded by 'dirty molding dishes'.

Colleen's post received 132,000 likes, almost 10,000 retweets and over 1,500 comments.

One user on Twitter, @Julie_Story commented on the post, saying: 'Girl yessss and as they grow up there are so many mom bun moments it’s insane but so incredible because we get to help little tiny souls become.

'Some days the hair and makeup takes a back seat to nurture, deep convos and making hot chocolate for snuggle time,' she added.

Another user, @heidinicoleeee added: 'It’s also different for every mom. it might be easier to some, messy for some and hard for others. what’s important is that the flaws are accepted just as much as the beauty.'

'I respect you so much for showing the reality of motherhood and showing that even for the people who think it is, not every experience is that way!

'You and @erik_stocklin are the best parents Flynn could hope for for showing him that it won’t always be easy but that that’s life,' added user @swinkeygalgal.

Another Twitter user and fellow new mother, @Kendall_Ashley added: 'Thanks for posting this. I’m 6 weeks in, and it’s been incredibly hard emotionally and physically.

'Nothing like what I see on mom blogs, which sometimes made me feel like I was doing this wrong. It’s awesome to see a mom celebrating the more imperfect parts of motherhood,' she added.

The new mother welcomed her first child, a baby boy named Flynn, on December 10 2018 with her husband Erik.

Since then, the social media star has been open with her followers about her journey with being a mother.

Earlier this month, the new mother posted a video to her YouTube channel that showed her revealing her post-baby birth body.

In the video, she discussed how after she gave birth in December, the hospital gave her a belly wrap to 'hold everything together', before showing what her stomach looks like with and without the wrap.

She said: 'After you give birth, there's a lot of extra fluid in there and everything's kind of jumbling around.

'I felt really good wearing this after because it kind of held everything together. I could literally feel my organs like sloshing around when I walked right after I gave birth.

The 32-year-old, who is best known as her online comedic personality Miranda Sings – which she developed into Netflix series ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
