Ant McPartlin has revealed how his drink-driving arrest created tensions to flare with his long-time best friend Declan Donnelly.
The Britain’s Got Talent host, 43, admitted that his presenting partner was left furious following his crash in March last year while more than twice the alcohol limit.
Speaking to The Sun, Ant said: ‘He’s angry, of course he’s angry. But it’s justified and I understood it.

‘Underneath all of that is love and still is love. And that’s what we talked about more than anything.’
In March last year Ant was involved in a road traffic collision in London, after which he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
He later pleaded guilty to the offence, was fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months, and announced he would be taking a break from television presenting duties until 2019.
Dec, 43, went on to present Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here without the star while he entered into rehab.
Ant explained ‘I’m very lucky that I’ve got an understanding business partner and best friend who said, “Absolutely, your head is more important than anything.” I had to lock myself away.’

The tensions between the pair, who first started working together at the age of 13, thankfully didn’t last as Ant explained the presenting duo are now ‘closer than ever before’.
He credited Dec with being ‘so supportive and brilliant’ through his struggle, resulting in a stronger relationship.
The star returned to work with Dec on Friday as he attended the first day of auditions for Britain’s Got Talent.

Taking to the stage, Ant said: 'Hello everyone. Oh God, I'm really, really emotional now. I've missed you all.'
Turning to Dec, he said: 'As for you, I've missed you. Thank you very much, what a warm welcome.
'What a great show to come back to, I'm thrilled, I'm over the moon. Shall we move on before I cry?'
The pair then hugged on stage as the audience cheered.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
