«Breaking News» Teachers have to float down WHITE WATER RAPIDS in the Philippines on their way to school

Teaching is not usually thought of as a dangerous profession, but for a brave few staff members at a remote school in the Philippines, their morning commute resembles an extreme sport.

These teachers have to make it down white water rapids just to reach their classes on time, wading through 14 stretches of water before the arrive at the school for indigenous youngsters in Libacao in the Aklan region of the Philippines.

When the rivers are flowing dangerously fast after heavy downpours, they need to don waterproof suits and put their paperwork in plastic zip bags to keep dry.

Footage taken on September 19 shows the teachers climbing into the river to be carried downstream and then swimming to the bank on the opposite side.

Teacher Raquel Florentino said that the river in the video is merely the fifth crossing -they had to paddle through another nine before reaching the school.

She said: 'Aklan river has very strong currents even on a normal day.

'We really need guides to avoid accidents. We always have bruises. Our nails always get chipped off.

'The first time I went here, my feet were so sore. But all I can do was sleep it off while crying because we still have classes the next day.

'Time is important to these kids who can't regularly go to school.'

Raquel said she gets the bus near her home which takes her to the nearest town. From there, she and the other teachers will ride motorbikes which to the foot of the mountain where they will start their trek.

They then cross a total of 14 rivers, which are usually calm enough to paddle through but in adverse conditions they have to float down and hope for the best.

The total journey takes them about three hours each day.

The teachers say they just don't want to be taken for granted, and want to raise awareness for what they go through to teach

Raquel added: 'This is the fifth station of our cross on our way to our school and one of the 14 stations that we need to cross.

This is how we do it when the current is not manageable.

'We show this simply because we want the educational system to know that there is more to education than papers and tests.

'And there is more to a teacher's life than accomplishing targets.

'Furthermore, we also aim to raise awareness how hard and hazardous it is on our part to reach school, so we should not be taken for granted.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
