«Breaking News» YouTuber Saffron Barker slammed by fans who suspect she FAKED tanning in advert

A teen beauty vlogger with more than a million YouTube subscribers has been accused of faking the effects of a self-tanning lotion she was paid to promote on Instagram

Saffron Barker, 18, from Brighton, shared what appeared to be before and after snaps to demonstrate the results of using Loving Tan with her 933,000 Instagram followers on Thursday evening.

Beneath the near identical side-by-side selfies - in which she is seen holding up a bottle of the tanning mousse in her bedroom - Saffron wrote that the brand's Deluxe Bronzing Mousse was 'the one', using the hashtag #ad to indicate that she'd been paid to endorse the product.

In the second image, her skin appears noticeably darker, but suspicious followers pointed out that the background did too - and suggested Saffron had simply digitally altered the photo to look more tanned, rather than actually using the product and photographing the results.

'Got no issues with #ad - apart from when it's fake,' one follower tweeted.

A spokesperson for Saffron said her fans would 'understand and appreciate' that hers is a 'truly authentic' partnership with Loving Tan, but did not deny that the image was digitally altered.

MailOnline has contacted Loving Tan for comment.

Saffron, 18, wrote on Instagram: 'It’s taken a while for me to find a fake tan that I love and the Deluxe Bronzing Mousse in shade dark is the one!

'Dries so quickly, no streaks and also smells great. You can use code ’saffrontan’ to receive a free Deluxe Applicator Mitt with any Mousse purchase, you need to try it out!'

But fans quickly started speculating over the authenticity of the post endorsing the effects of Loving Tan.

One woman took to Twitter to post the photos side by side saying: 'Got no issues with #ad - apart from when it's fake. Literally the same picture taken seconds apart with some Facetune, fake tan, brands need to select better content creators.'

The post was met by criticism from annoyed users who vented their frustrations as one commented: 'I see this s*** all the time. It's rare that they ever actually put it on.'

Instagram users also vented over the 'fake' post.

'That good of a fake tan you darken the pic. Hairs in the same place, necklace is in the same place. Take the filter off.' Said one viewer.

Another wrote: ' Look at the position of her hand on the bottom in both pictures. Funny how it's in the exact same place after "applying it".'

Users also noted how in the right-hand photo - which her post suggested had been taken after the product was applied - the background and her hair appeared to have 'darkened'.

'Do people not even realise how edited this is loooool,' one wrote.

Some questioned whether Loving Tan had approved the post before it was shared online.

'It's embarrassing for the brand. I'm surprised they even approved it.' Said one woman.

Another added:  'They probably didn't care because they're getting their name out there.'

Saffron, who is most known for her singing, mostly posts content involving beauty, fashion, lifestyle, music, Q&As, and challenges which she does with her friends and family.

TheFamousPeople.com said on their website that when she was a young teen Saffron was part of the all-girl group ‘Born2Blush’.

Their first original song, ‘24seven’, was released on YouTube in March 2015 and in December 2016, she was one of the 25 YouTubers who recorded ‘Christmas Without You’, a charity festive single benefiting ‘Make-A-Wish Foundation’.

The song was penned by Grammy Award winning songwriters ‘Jackie Boys’.

Saffron has known the group members, including Libby Whitehouse, Jazmine Tiley, and Georgia McNamara, since she was three years old.

In the early 2010s, they started singing together and in May 2014 started a YouTube channel where they uploaded their cover of Bruno Mars’ ‘Uptown Funk’.

In 2015, the group broke up and Saffron set up her main channel in July of the same year.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
