«Breaking News» 'Vengeful' Les Moonves tried to 'ruin Janet Jackson's career' after her wardrobe malfunction

Former CBS chief Les Moonves nursed a grudge against Janet Jackson for her infamous 'wardrobe malfunction' at the 2004 Super Bowl Halftime Show, according to a new report.

Moonves, who resigned on Sunday after a new raft of sex abuse allegations made against him in a New Yorker article, allegedly became obsessed with ruining Jackson's career after the incident, which was quickly dubbed 'Nipplegate'.

Freelance journalist Yasher Ali, a prominent voice in the #MeToo movement, cited 'multiple sources' attesting to the grudge in an article for HuffPost. It was an example of Moonves' 'ire and vengefulness', according to the insiders.

The so-called malfunction saw Jackson's breast exposed for less than a second after Justin Timberlake tore some fabric from her bustier during the performance.

CBS and MTV (which was then owned by Viacom, the parent company of CBS at the time) faced huge criticism and a $550,000 Federal Communications Commission fine.

The singers insisted the incident was an accident, with Timberlake saying he only meant to rip away a small amount of fabric to expose some red lace.

Moonves banned the pair from the 2004 Grammy broadcast, which came a week after the Superbowl, but let Timberlake perform after he tearfully apologized, according to Ali's sources.

He was said to be furious that Jackson didn't oblige with something similar.

As previously reported, Jackson's music was blacklisted by MTV after the incident.

But Moonves still hated Jackson seven years later, it is claimed. Furious that Jackson had signed a book deal with CBS-owned Simon & Schuster, he is said to have shouted: 'How the f*** did she slip through?'

Moonves announced his resignation on Sunday shortly after the most recent New Yorker article, which followed a first published on July 27.

The magazine reported the latest allegations included Moonves forcing women to perform oral sex and retaliating when advances were turned away.

Moonves acknowledged relations with three of the women but said they were consensual, adding he had never used his position to hurt the careers of women.

The network did not address the allegations directly, but said Moonves will donate 20 million dollars to one or more organisations that support the #MeToo movement and equality for women in the workplace.

'The donation, which will be made immediately, has been deducted from any severance benefits that may be due Moonves,' the statement said.

Moonves called the allegations 'untrue'.

CBS declined to comment on the HuffPost story. Dailymail.com has contacted a spokesman for comment.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
