«Breaking News» Putin tests blowing up warships with his new missiles in latest videos showing off military might

Russia has demonstrated its naval might by sinking a group of 'enemy' ships using a range of new missiles.

Terrifying footage shows a launch of Vladimir Putin's Onyx - supersonic anti-ship cruise missile - from his Bastion complex on Kotelny island off the north coast of Siberia.

The military exercise involved an attack on supposed enemy ships in the pristine Arctic. Russian defence ministry TV channel Zvezda said today that the plan had been successfully implemented.

A separate clip shows a test of his lethal new Kh-35U anti-ship missile fired from an Su-34 long-range strike aircraft.

One Bastion complex can be equipped with up to 36 Oniks cruise missiles protecting 375 miles of sea shore.

The Arctic exercise was staged on Kotelny, part of the Novosibirsk chain of islands between the Laptev Sea and the East Siberian seas.

Ahead of the test firing of the P-800 Oliks, Russian northern fleet spokesman Captain Vadim Serga said: 'Missiles will be fired on a remote target imitating a group of surface ships of the simulated enemy.'

Thye Bastion deployment was made recently to the far-flung island as part of Putin's drive to modernise Russian defences in the Arctic.

This coincides with Moscow making new claims on vast mineral riches under the Arctic ice.

Until now the the Rubezh missile complex was the main weapon of coastal units of the Northern Fleet stationed on the island, said Serga.

The second clip, Russia said, was 'part of the implementation of planned combat missions at the Pacific Fleet's naval test range, Su-34 multifunctional fighter-bombers carried out practical launches of the newest guided anti-ship missiles Kh-35U.

'All in all eight launches were carried out. All missiles successfully hit their targets.'

The exercise involved complex conditions, said military sources. One such missile is enough to destroy a modern warship.

The missile can be fired from the surface, as part of coastal defence systems or - as here - from the air.

The Kh-35U missile has a range of 155 miles. They have been supplied to the military units since 2014.

It is planned to equip all modern planes of operational and tactic aviation with these missiles.

Russian officials claim that the KH-35U counters all enemy countermeasures.

It is designed to destroy surface ships displacing up to 5,000 tonnes and surface targets, say Russian naval sources.

This is the latest of many recent Russian defence ministry videos highlighting the modernisation of the country's armed forces under Putin.

Earlier this month Russia staged the biggest war games since Cold War times in the Far East of the country.

The Russian defence ministry regular posts footage of its latest missile tests.

Putin critics accuse him of an increased militarisation in Russia.

But he has claimed that he is merely ensuring his vast territories are adequately defended with modern equipment.

Meanwhile pro-Russian rebels in Ukraine conducted military exercises on a shooting range near Luhansk, on 25 September.

The United States, Germany and France are engaged in the peace process in Eastern Ukraine and are ready to support the proposals put forth by Ukraine about UN peacekeepers.

However, Russia demands that there should be no NATO members among the nations forming the UN peacekeeping mission that might be deployed to Donbas.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
