«Breaking News» Prince of Wales kicks off a two-day tour of Northumberland

The Prince of Wales was in a chipper mood as he sampled the produce at a local market on the first day of his Northumberland visit.

Charles, 69, kicked off his two-day tour at a farmer's market in Hexham where he was photographed chatting to stallholders before trying some baked goods and homemade chutney.

Accompanied by the glamorous Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland - appropriately clad in Northumbrian tartan - he began his day at The Sill, a national landscape discovery centre in the heart of Hadrian's Wall.

The education facility was opened in July 2017 at a cost of £14.8 million.

It provides learning and research activities connected to landscape, conservation and countryside management, as well as leisure and tourism skills.

Next, Charles proceeded to a farmer's market before attending the nearby Hexham Abbey, which is host to 84 medieval panel paintings, including the very rare 'Dance of Death' sequence.

This will be followed by a trip to Kirkharle, the birthplace of legendary gardener Lancelot 'Capability' Brown.

While there, the prince will commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Upper Teesdale Agricultural Support Services (UTASS), a group which helps address the needs of those living in rural isolation.

Charles will conclude the day by travelling to the Kielder Salmon Centre, where a new visitor centre is set to open later this month.

The prince, who was smartly dressed in a charcoal grey suit, striped tie and red pocket square for his visit today, has been Patron of Salmon & Trout Conservation UK since 2003.

On Thursday, a visit to the Moorland Spirit Company Ltd's Hepple Gin distillery will be followed by an engagement at The Alnwick Garden.

Who is Charles's glamorous host?

Charles was accompanied by the glamorous Jane Percy, Duchess of Northumberland, for his visit to the North East.

The artistocrat wife of the 12th Duke, Ralph Percy, brought a touch of glamour to proceedings in a stylish Northumbrian tartan coat and artfully-arranged beret.

The family's ancestral home is Alnwick Castle, where scenes for Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone were filmed in 2000.

The Outer Bailey is the area where Harry, played by Daniel Radcliffe, and his fellow students learned to fly broomsticks with Madam Hooch, played by Zoe Wanamaker.

The 60-year-old Duchess has renovated the grounds of Alnwick Castle over the last 20 years and the visitor attraction now boasts a giant water feature and a 'Poison Garden' of plants.

The couple's eldest daughter, Lady Katie, is married to financier Percy Valentine while Lady Melissa, wed chartered surveyor Thomas van Straubenzee in 2013.

Both weddings featured high-profile guest lists, including Prince William, Pippa Middleton and Prince Harry's then-girlfriend Cressida Bonas.

Their heir, George, was Pippa Middleton's roommate at Edinburgh University while their youngest son, Lord Max Percy, married Princess Nora of Oettingen-Spielberg in July 2017.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
