«Breaking News» Piers Morgan reveals his daughter Elise ordered a $99 game on her iPad

Piers Morgan has revealed how his six-year-old daughter accidentally purchased a $99 (£75.95) game on her iPad because he hadn't set parental controls on the device.

The journalist, 53, said he had to 'go a long way' to claim back the money for the expensive game, but admitted it was his own fault because he hadn't adjusted the settings so that Elise could not make purchases on the tablet.

Piers said Elise, his daughter with wife Celia Walden, was 'distraught' over the purchase, and even worried that her parents would 'lose the house'.

Piers recalled the gaffe on Good Morning Britain during a debate over TV presenter Kirstie Allsopp's admission that she two son's iPads when they broke her rules on screen time.

Piers said it was an 'extreme' move, but that all parents could relate to feeling frustrated with the impact of technology on their children's lives.

Piers admitted that while smashing expensive iPads is extreme, he said any parent could relate to the frustration she felt when her children kept breaking the rules.

He said: 'My six-year-old the other day inadvertently ordered a $99 game on her iPad because we hadn't put the right controls in place, not even thinking this would be an issue.

'She was then distraught and had a nightmare because she was so upset by what she'd done when she realised what had happened. The house was going to get repossessed, we were going to lose all our money and this was going to be the end of our lives. I had to go a long way to getting the money back.'

Piers said he felt Kirstie's actions would serve to teach her children that bad behaviour has consequences.

He continued: 'There are lots of consequences to technology and how they're used and how kids deploy them.

'I think in the end we might not like what she did with the actual banging, but I think most parents have been in that position where you go ''there are rules and boundaries and if you're going to keep ignoring them there are consequences.'''

Location, Location, Location host Kirstie made the startling confession on The Jeremy Vine Show on Monday during a debate on whether parents are responsible for their children's behaviour.

Explaining that they hadn't followed her rules as to when and how they could use their tablets, she confessed to smashing them against a table leg as her children watched on in horror.

She added: 'There is a game called Fortnite and another called PUBG and I decided -we had made all sorts of rules and all sorts of times when we said you can't play them and all those rules got broken and in the end I said: 'Right that is it, I have to physically [break them].'

On Good Morning Britain parenting expert Liat Hughes Joshi said Kirstie's actions were 'wasteful'.

She explained: 'She could have done a number of other things that still would have enforced those boundaries, I would have locked those iPads away. If she really wants to take them away, which does have a downside of cutting kids off from their social circle, then give them to charity, I just think it sets a really bad example to smash them up.'

Journalist Anna May Mangan accused Kirstie's critics of being 'self-righteous', and said she had just been in the 'red mist' that parents get when their children have been disobedient.

She argued: 'It's about the fact she told them, she warned them and they disobeyed continually and she took a step. Whats the news? Parent does what she's supposed to do.

'I probably would have unplugged it but when you're in that mist, and every parent has been in that place when they tesy you again and again and again and it's the summer holidays, I don't blame her. I certainly don't think she deserves the public hanging she has.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
