«Breaking News» Katharine McPhee, 34, says her age difference with David Foster, 68, works for them

Katharine McPhee, 34, and Canadian music producer David Foster, 68, have a big age difference.

And in a new interview with People Magazine, the singer addressed the topic.  

'It doesn’t make sense to a lot of people, but it does to us,' the beauty remarked. She also said, 'We genuinely love and respect each other and have for a very long time.'

While the engagement put an end to months of rumors about their relationship, they had known each other for over 12 years, when Foster mentored McPhee as a contestant on American Idol. 

'She didn’t catch my eye on the first day because I was so busy trying to do my job,' says Foster, who went on to produce McPhee’s first single.

'But the reality is that in the last 12 years I’ve always had a connection with her.'

While their relationship started out as a friendly one, it ultimately turned into a romance, with Foster adding that, 'the fact that we are both in the music industry helps.'

Foster and McPhee are currently planning their wedding (his fifth, her second), and while there is no date set yet, their both planning to spend the rest of their lives together.

'He has things to learn from me and I have a lot of things to learn from him, so I think we have a nice yin and yang,' says McPhee.

McPhee currently stars on the CBS series Scorpion, and she recently wrapped up her run on the Broadway musical Waitress, while Foster just started his Hitman tour.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
