The model, now 44, appeared on Megyn Kelly Today on Wednesday morning. Megyn, 47, asked Kate whether she ever felt pressure to pose without a top on, to which the model immediately answered: 'Yes, there was pressure.'

'I worked with a woman photographer called Corinne Day and she always liked me with no top on and I did not like it at all when I first started,' Kate added.

She then referred to photos that were taken when she posed in front of her then-boyfriend Mario Sorrenti, who took the shots that resulted into Kate's iconic Calvin Klein Obsession campaign in 1993.

'And then I suppose — Mario was my boyfriend so I was kind of used to it but I was still always like, "Can I just put some clothes on?"' Kate added. 'But that was the job so I kind of just did it.'

Asked what she would tell young models, the fashion icon said she would now insist: 'They don't have to do it if they don't want to do it.'

'I wouldn't let my daughter do it,' she added, referring to her only child Lila Grace Moss-Hack. 'I look at her now and she's 15, and to think that I was going topless at her age is crazy.'

However, if Lila Grace (who scored her first campaign last year) wants to embrace a modeling career in the long run, Kate made it clear she's ready to cheer her on.

'I will support her obviously. I'll be her manager,' Kate said, at which pointed Megyn added: 'Her momager?'

'Yes, I'll be her momager,' Kate added. 'If she wants to, I'll support her in anything she wants to do.'

Kate reflected on her Obsession campaign, which she shot when she was 18 years old while 20-year-old Mario was behind the lens. She said that the secret behind the iconic photos was 'young love'.

'We were so innocent and young and so excited about the work and about everything,' she said. 'Everything was so new to us. Going to the Caribbean was new to us. It was an amazing opportunity and the pictures were amazing.'

Now, when she looks back on the campaign, Kate said she feels 'deep affection', adding: 'It's just so sweet.'

While her career promptly took off and the model quickly rose to the ranks of modeling icon, she revealed that her mother once didn't think Kate was photogenic.

Looking back on her own beginnings, she recounted how she was discovered as a teenager at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York City.

'My dad worked for Pan Am and we were on our way back from holiday and at the time we were traveling on standby,' she said.

'We'd slept in JFK Airport because we couldn't get home and they said "There's three seats left, just get on the plane and find the seats", so we got on and my agent was on the plane.

'She came up and said "Have you ever thought about modeling?" And I was like, "Nooo."

'Then I went to see her in London and they signed me up.'

This is a rare TV interview for Kate, who is famously private.

When Megyn asked her why she's so intent to keep her personal life to herself, Kate explained: 'I like to have a life outside of work and I think it's important for me with my family. And even before that, really, I just wanted to keep things to myself.'

Still, she gave Megyn a bit of insight into her life as a mother, and how her life changed after she became a parent in 2002 aged 28.

'I was never lonely again,' she said. 'I always had my baby.'

She said she and her daughter are now 'really close', adding: 'Now we're hanging out like friends. She's getting older, we can go shopping together. It's really fun.'

Kate also looked back on her controversial 2009 quote, when she said one of her mottos was 'Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.'

The sentence led to an uproar from people who feared it might encourage disordered eating habits.

'My friend used to say it,' she said. 'Because you know, we were all living together and you know, we'd go for the biscuits and go, "Oh nothing tastes as g—." It's a little jingle.'

Nowadays, though, she said her philosophy remains 'Never complain, never explain'.

'Just get on with it,' she explained. 'You can't do anything about what people think of you or if they lie or if it's not true what they say, it doesn't matter. If you know who you are  then you can get through.'

Kate said she still enjoys working as a model, although she believes the industry was 'more fun' when she was just starting out because it was 'freer' than it is now, after to the rise of social media.

However, overall, she believes the industry is changing for the better.

'There's so much more diversity now,' she said. 'I think it's right. There's so many different sizes and colors and heights. Why would you just be a one-size model and being represented for all of these people? So, yes. For sure, it's better.'

As for her beauty tips, the model emphasized the importance of sleep and hydration in her routine.

'I'm a good girl. go to bed, I drink lots of water,' she said. 'Not too much coffee, I'm trying to cut down on cigarettes. I take care of myself now.'

Asked what she would like to tell her daughter that she wishes she had known when she was younger, Kate said: 'Tomorrow's another day, everything passes. You can be in a terrible [phase] and think it's the end of the world but everything passes. I think that's important to remember. '

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
