«Breaking News» Kane says referee 'bottled' late Welbeck call in England's defeat to Spain

Harry Kane has accused referee Danny Makkelie of 'bottling it' after the Dutchman disallowed Danny Welbeck's late effort in England's 2-1 defeat to Spain.

England players, including Kane, remonstrated strongly with Makkelie after he adjudged Welbeck to have fouled David De Gea in the 97th minute of Saturday's match.

Replays showed minimal contact between the Arsenal striker and De Gea, and after the match, an angry Kane slammed the officials for the decision.

'Yeah 100 per cent that cost us,' he told Sky Sports. 'In those big moments you need the referee to stay strong and he’s bottled it. Sometimes you need a firm ref who doesn't basically give wrong decisions under the pressure and it was disappointing to finish that way.

'I thought we played well, especially second half and we deserved a draw at least. Like I said Danny just stood there and De Gea has gone up and caught the ball but has he has come down he's dropped the ball on top of Danny.

'He didn't go to foul him or anything and the ball's dropped. Sometimes the keepers get better treatment than the rest of us and that was unfortunate for us tonight.'

Former England striker Jermaine Defoe echoed Kane's thoughts on Sky's post-match coverage: ‘Danny Welbeck's goal I don't know how that wasn't given,' he said. 'He even ducks out the way for the keeper and turns and puts it in.

'In my opinion that is the goal so it could have been a different scoreline but in the second half and overall there were plenty of positives to take out of that.’

Despite a late onslaught, goals from Saul Niguez and Rodrigo were enough to condemn England to defeat in their UEFA Nations League opener after Marcus Rashford's early finish.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
